The Brit Boost was one of my first pedals, traded a skateboard for it iirc.
Worth it for a skateboard, and def 49bux. Starved plate design but the circuit was fairly sensitive to swaps!

I love the VibraVOX. I've had two for years. I've probably played them more than any trems/vibes I've ever owned (Diamond, Gravitas, Empress Tremolo2, Tremotron, Repeat Percussion, Tremofect, et cetera). The Eristic wrote:Vox Brit Boost $49

There are shops online asking $500-1000 for total beaters and junky toys (like Instagram darling SoundGas).
The Rolands they're offering for $560 should be in the $100-140 range. https://reverb.com/shop/soundgas-limited?query=drum
Yet here sits a CR-68 for under $350. The 68 has the same sounds as the 78, and with a $150 MIDI retrofit, it could outperform its $2,000 counterpart.

Soundgas service most of their shit, they're experts, and I gather buyers trust them. Quit hating on them.

So, they're not "overpriced"?

Some of their items could be considered that, sure, but the majority of their stuff is not, when you add in the cost of servicing.

If you buy a $100 drum machine and then pay yourself $80 an/hr in imaginary money to tinker with it on a workbench for 5 hours, then it doesn't become a $500 drum machine. It's still a $100 drum machine.actual wrote:Soundgas service most of their shit, they're experts, and I gather buyers trust them. Quit hating on them.
I understand some of their price inflation comes from being based in the UK and leasing a physical space. They're not a hobby business run out of someone's apartment. They have overhead and logistical expenses, but some of their prices are an absolute joke and the amount of fluffing they get on social media is obscene.
If you're in Europe and want a clunky, organ-style drum machine, you can pay someone in the US $100 and then $150 for shipping----you'd still save $300 or roughly 200 Euros after shipping and import fees---as opposed to the ripoff prices, which SoundGas advertises. If you're going to call them "experts", then you have to acknowledge that they know their prices are well above market---they're not naïvely price gouging. They're deliberately overcharging their patrons.

Re: The headsup sweet shit on ebay thread....
I'm talking about the end user cost, not imaginary money. If you buy a used vintage drum machine, chances are it will need a bit of servicing. Your price for the drum machine plus the cost of servicing by a synth tech, plus possible shipping and handling, plus the time you won't be able to use the instrument, would most likely be comparable to what Soundgas charge.
I call them experts cause they are experts. Roland chose them to deliver Space Echoes for an exhibition. When I look at their prices, I see market prices. Are they at the top and sometimes above? Yes. Enough to be called obscene? Not at all.
Also, to use your example; 100usd for a drum machine plus 150 shipping would cost me a total of 375 incl. VAT and import charges. Let's then add 1.5 hour service + diagnosis, and we're at around 575.
