My wife really, REALLY wants to shave her head before she turns 30. So, within the next year.

Working through the reality that she is her own autonomous person, with her own real desires, with my own personal desires that I really don't want her to shave her head because I like the way she looks now...

Cut it for her, stroke the fuzzyness, take her into the shower and help wash her . . . you should know the rest ;)

I just have a weird thing with playing guitar in shops, because I didn't start by learning cover songs or taking lessons or anything like that, I just learned by writing songs. I used to put scotch tape on the keys of the piano in our house growing up and write numbers on them in pencil, then plunk out melodies and write the numbers down on drawing paper to "write a song". I always only ever learned enough on any instrument to write whatever song I was working on (although I did read music and learn theory in school, but not on guitar or bass). I learned guitar because I wanted to be in a punk band and I had lyrics written, so I wrote chords to go under them, etc. So whenever I pick up a guitar in public and it's not a gig with songs that are already written, I always feel weird, because I don't just play stuff, I noodle around awkwardly. It's a different on bass, because I have more of a natural affinity for improvising on it, but I don't really ever window shop for bass gear at all. The GC near my house has a bunch of cool used amps right now that I wanted to check out, it was just weird because all the guitars are out of tune, there's no tuners around, it was dead quiet. My anxiety is kind of peaking right now too, so it was just maximum awkwardness.

Thank man, that's nice of you to say. I do need to quit Arby's. I need to quit fast food again, period. At least I only eat it like once a week, max.

Don't know if it helps to say, but I always felt that way, too. When I worked for GC (over a decade ago), it was pretty rare that anyone's ears perked up at guitar players, anyway (in a positive or a negative sense). Drum department was a different thing, though. Nothing more grating than having a conversation with a customer while a 15 year old 'practices' Metallica beats because his parents won't buy him a kit.

I don't think I know more than 10 parts to different songs...never really mastered the guitarist-as-jukebox thing. So I noodle around, too. Noodle with confidence.

Playing music that way makes it kind of weird to "jam" with people too. It's like, hey I can write a song really fast if you're down...no, I don't know any covers...nope, none at all....nope, not even Alice In Chains. I can pick stuff up really fast, I have learned covers in bands before for fun (interpreted, usually), but I'm not one of those people that sits down and just starts playing on an instrument in public at all.

Oh god this reminds me of being in a guitar center as a kid like 10-15 years ago when "br00tal deathcore" was a thing. Poor little kid me was just trying out some basses at a respectable volume and all I could hear was the unrelenting double bass drum with a china being ridden.

I'm glad that trend was mocked out of existence quick because that moment still scars me.

I second this sentiment. I love Corey's stuff. Resident Power Violence poster.

Sooo...I don't eat fast food (I don't eat great by any stretch of the imagination...but I don't eat that ) and I had probably the most aggressive shart of my life this morning. It was like an oscillating fuzz creating plasma like textures (as opposed to velcro). I was wearing my 'expendable' underwear but thankfully no stains were had. It was a really loud and angry shart though. :picard:

Guitar Center - I went there twice in an extended period. Once in 2006 and again in 2012. What a different world! The only "bad" experience I had was in 2006 when an employee kind of rudely told my friend to stop slapping a fretless bass. I see where the guy is coming from sort of but...he said 'you never slap a fretless bass' and that's just untrue (we were big Les Claypool fans at the time). I don't know why I still have that memory but here we are...

Thanks, I haven't written or recorded any powerviolence songs in a while. I want to, I want to keep doing Mental Waste, but my writing partner checked out of it and moved onto to other solo stuff (that's good...that he won't even release, different conversation). I know how to write that stuff in such a way that I could probably finish tracking an album by myself in a week, but I never did the lyrics/vocals part. I have some unfinished/unreleased powerviolence material from yeaaaaaaars ago, for the same reason. I tried to get other people to do vocals and so it never got finished, except one song. I need to get my shit together and write solo stuff. My wife has pretty keyed up anxiety issues too (and already takes meds) and she's been talking about wanting us to try out CBD.

I'm better about fast food than I used to be. It's kind of fucked up to say plainly, but I flat just have an eating disorder and have had huge issues with food and weight. I've lost and gained and lost 60-100+ lbs multiple times. I quit drinking, quit smoking, quit weed, but I've had times where I counted every single calorie and cooked my own food and other times where I ate fast food 3 times a day, every day. I try not to use food as a coping mechanism anymore and I'm better about it, but it's tough when your go-to affect control substance is the thing you need to survive.

The GC here is fine. It's pretty chill, honestly. It's just not at all conducive to my personality, especially when trying out gear. I could chit chat with the staff for hours though, they all seemed nice and cool.

I feel you bro. You gotta let her be her though. My wife doesn't like all the stuff I've done over the years but she's never told me not to do it. :) It will grow back and who knows? Some women looks gorgeous that way. Maybe she'll surprise you. ;)

Honestly, one of my cooler ex-girlfriends had a shaved head and I thought it was fucking sexy. I met her when she had it though and only later in life found out what she looked like with hair.
Not telling you what to do but...I say you encourage it!!!

@Corey - Sorry to hear about your wife. Hope you find something that works homie.
