Re: The Whatever Thread .. For Gear!!
I went with a company (one guy) called Buddha. He makes a jazzmaster sized p90. He was really cool about communicating and helping me figure out what I want. I'm going with an alnico 8 magnet which apparently has pretty high output and more girth. Still has bite on the top end without being piercing. I hope it actually sounds like that. I want to choose piercing treble, not have it forced on me.
I'll figure out the neck pickup eventually. It took me actually playing in a full band mix to appreciate the importance of a good bridge pickup.

Re: The Whatever Thread .. For Gear!!
Got some gear money now, spent the last week trying to decide whether I want a Ct5 or a Nemesis. Why is this so hard
NEMESIS
+ presets
+ stereo
+ midi
+ UglyCasanova toans
+ slightly cheaper used than Ct5
- not Ct5
- I already have a lot of delay
- dunno if I want to screw around with an extra app
Ct5
+ is Ct5
+ More sample time (4-8s vs 2.6s)
- pricier
- not as easy to use live (presets, midi, etc)
- I've already owned 3 older revisions

I've seen those Buddha jazzmaster sized p90 pickups and been real curious. Interested on how it sounds and works out for you.neonblack wrote:I went with a company (one guy) called Buddha. However, from the list of pros vs cons you have above, it seems like you've decided on a Nemesis already!

Yeah, get both!
And a DD-500 now that you are there lol.
Wondering if Digitech would release a new PDS series in the near future.

Pretty sure I'm going to go with the Nemesis. I think it'll pair nicely with my Reflex.

Re: The Whatever Thread .. For Gear!!
One thing I didn't like about the nemesis (and I guess the Ventris by the distributive property) is that some presets are only available once you throw down for SA accessories. The presets on "the back end (or half)" of the pedal. But if you're willing to put in the time (and money), it's a great pedal.reckon luck wrote:Got some gear money now, spent the last week trying to decide whether I want a Ct5 or a Nemesis. pretty sure this isn't worthy of a whole separate thread, so I'm leaving it here for hot takes and philosophy:

I've been on a BATTLES kick this week and actually thought of this. That dude has two on his board. I didn't read the article, just the headline, but the number of bands, Pitchfork would review, I know that use it is pretty high.Dandolin wrote:pretty sure this isn't worthy of a whole separate thread, so I'm leaving it here for hot takes and philosophy:

It was a pretty cool article. I like to see pedal geekdom get a wider audience.

Re: The Whatever Thread .. For Gear!!
What do people like for fashionably filling holes on ones pedalboard? My pedaltrain jr has room for two-three more pedals than I am using now. I’d rather not put pedals on just to fill the space, but I don’t like empty space either :facepalme:
I guess there’s always Altoids tins? Three should do the job lol.

Lol. I was just thinking about little succulents or something, and just never put it in the case. I’m not hogging these days, so no need for it to be mobile. And if I Velcro down the pots I can easily move it.
