Re: Winter NAMM / 2018 notes
So, you're sayin' they should've called it "Krytical Miss"?

Or Krytical Mess, if one lacks the necessary certifications and permits to operate that thing.Chankgeez wrote:So, you're sayin' they should've called it "Krytical Miss"?

My mistake--it's the MXR Pitch Doubler that is BBD.actual wrote:The MXR Pitch Transposer is digital if that's the one you're referring to.Gone Fission wrote:[
Thermae has apparently been a registered name for a couple years now. Might take that long to work out analog pitch shifting in a compact pedal. Only a few companies with resources tackled it in rack units way back when--A/DA, MXR, and A.R.T. are the only ones I know.
Very interesting if, like the Tonal Recall, it can both perform cleanly and intentionally chase artifacts (and associated bliss).

Everyone's getting carried away with that, like it's a nod to a Slicer 2.0 or a Waza trem/panner, but I wouldn't necessarily read it that way. The BOSS pages generally play off rainbow and chromatic themes. I certainly expect new products from BOSS/Roland at this show, but I'm skeptical that the chosen pedals are actually a direct clue. We'll know in the next week though.

Yeah, agreed.echorec wrote:Everyone's getting carried away with that, like it's a nod to a Slicer 2.0 or a Waza trem/panner, but I wouldn't necessarily read it that way. They have however announced the Katana Air, not sure if that's been mentioned yet.

I know exactly what to make of that: the person who runs boss_europe's social media is allergic to apostrophes & loves commas (and also may quite possibly be a poet and not even know it).actual wrote:Not quite sure what to make of this.

Welp, Godlyke gonna Godlyke, I guess. The products are usually great, but, yet again, utterly devoid of taste (or even general awareness as to the decade), to the point where it isn't even amusing ironically.

Now this is a weird one---a preset drum machine, inspired by 1979's 55 drum box. I'm not sure how many people will pay $300 for accompaniment, when there are already so many groove boxes and pre-existing accessories like the Digitech Trio.

It would've been cooler if Korg had issued an expanded version of the Mini Pops. Here's the OG 55, because why not.

*My band is already called Real Groove Technology. Suck it, Korg. The KR-55 Pro features “Real Groove Technology” which uses data recorded from actual professional musicians performing at various tempi, and is a completely different technology than conventional rhythm machines. There are a total of 24 high-quality rhythm styles, each fine tuned to provide the best possible feel, to accurately reproduce the experience of playing with a percussionist. The sounds, grooves, and phrases will play back at pristine quality even if you change the tempo, so you can enjoy playing serious jam sessions at your own pace.

Yeah, that seems really cool, but I'm not going to flip things or save up for it. If I was getting started, hell yeah.
Also... ok, I dont want to be that internet asshole guy but... Would it kill a man to turn off the cheese ball reverb on a synth? I realize it's built in, but for real, you don't need it on "everything except funky synth bass."
