Yeah if you're someone who adheres to the Everything Should Connect to Everything mindset, sure.

I'm not particularly interested in endless I/O in any format, though.
good deals are here.

I can only imagine those decisions were intentional, as the price of the 0 coast is much lower than it would be for an Optomix, STO, and Function (and whatever else). They had to hamstring it or they'd discontinue those modules, probably.

Up til now I’ve always used attenuation and offset and quantizers to get my random to sit where I want it, hadn’t ever really considered anything like the Sapel or A-149-1 with their nifty distribution controls. Now after watching some video I think I really need one... will probably seek out the Doepfer just to save some dough. Besides these two and the Sputnik West Coast Random Source, anything else I should look at?
Those are the ones I think of for Buchla style random, and the DIY option is the Nonlinearcircuits 8-Bit Cypher.

For random outside the norm, you have the Wogglebug, SSF Ultra Random Analog, like 700 DIY NLC Modules (dude loves the chaos), and I'm sure much much more.
Yeah, I guess Buchla style random is the best way to put it, and what I’m interested in.

Yea, there is also the Verbos Electronics one that I just remembered. People always talk about their Harmonic Oscillator but I barely see any love for the rest of their lineup. FWIW I use the A-149-1 and I couldn't be happier using that thing.

Yeah, I gotta get that Doepfer. Man there’s like 6 Doepfer modules on my radar right now.

I honestly don't see myself getting rid of the 0-coast. It's just way too formidable to justify ditching it at this point. There are certainly things it could do better, but for a MIDI interface w simultaneous pitch and velocity access, random generator, wavefolder, arpeggiator, offset/attenuversion, and an LPG it's hard to beat. I bet there are dozens of things those of you who sold your 0-coasts could still use it for. It's also tremendously portable & looks good as hell lol

Anywho, MORPHAGENE EN ROUTE, EXCITEMENT LEVELS RISING. It seems like it'll be a decent tool for in-rack audio processing, etc, but also I think it'll kick ass as its own instrument with a very peculiar control format. I've been thinking of using several simultaneous CV sequences to basically create hip hop beats in a way that it'd normally take 2+ turntablists to do. Basically dividing the meter into 16th notes and modulating the Organize so that emphasized counts are met with percussive samples (say, your first 2-4 splices), and then the subsequent off-beat 16th notes are used to trigger small melodic content. I dunno how well, or if, it would work, but I can't imagine that it wouldn't and my brain has been buzzing thinking about it.

solo tunes:
completed works || loosey goosey releases
associated acts:
Raab Zamboni (fake jazz/real noise//sax, modular synth, editing, misc) || Field Guide (my best friends//sax on 2 tracks)

I make t-shirts, patches, koozies, buttons, CDs, sometimes tapes, and eventually i'll start working on pedals again. DM me for pricing!

Interesting... I look forward to your findings. It's definitely a module I will get at some point.

I think I'm pretty much set at this point with what I have. I'm going to stick it out and really learn the shit I have. There will be some fine tuning like I have too many envelopes and lfos.

NO SUCH THING. ALL THE ENVELOPE MODULATIONS WOOOOOOO!!

i liked the No Coast a LOT. and would grab one again. if i had room. my desk space is at such a premium.and the plan right now is the 12u case, a 6u, the GR-1, Digitakt, and a few pedals.

but with that and a mixer it's already hard to have an ergonomically setuo work space.

i still have barely used the Keystep because just. no. ROOM.

I'll definitely report back. It's gonna be a world of its own for sure. Maybe my dream sampler? Or maybe not lol, I've been burned by a lot of missed connections with gear before.

I'm still filling up my system, but once I hit that point I'm gonna try and maintain equilibrium for a while. Heck I might even have an extra 10hp that I don't know what I want to do with.

Are you sure. Look at this shit. haha. It is nice to have options. I gotta get with the modulate the modulators program. As I have tons to spare. But I do have a lot of holes to fill.
