Yeah, same for my 7U. In addition to being a bit more gentle with the wallet (though that's relative, it's still luxury as fuck) it forces you to make choices and constraints are a good thing in that context I think.vidret wrote:The case is a 6U Modular Gladiator Arena, and every module has to fight to stay in it.

@Mr. Vidret - Can you post your set up please? I'm curious which modules pleased the Emperor
(not being snarky, just trying to run with the metaphor).

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
Damn dude that looks like so much fun!
I watched this a few times over the past couple days:

I had already enjoyed some basic Steevio concepts in my experiments thus far, but the melody sequencing with the precision adder seemed very intriguing to me... so I tried a bootleg version using Blinds and my SQ-1 and dear god is that shit fun! So much more intuitive than any form of sequencing I've tried thus far. & it's really reinforced the less is more concept for me. Rethinking the whole philosophy of my system so I'm gonna let some stuff go, including the Trigger Riot (sorry Bhendy
). It does so many cool things but I really don't find the interface good for improvising. Gotta figuring out my gate sequencing game.... gonna try the logic route and see if I gel with that.

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
Thanks for posting that Vidret! I don't know enough about the Mannequins modules so I will read into those. Judging from the sequencers...it looks like you put your money where you mouth is and made synth that goes beyond what most fixed architecture ones do...it's like your synthesizing not just 'sound' but 'space and time' (like your sequencing 'events' as opposed to just straight 'melodies') of 'sound'. Very cool!!!

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
So in other synth thread I talked about sheering my system in half and this is what I got so far. Talking about it really made me realize I don't care about the majority of my modules but it also sucks not being able to have the Akemie's Castle, Akemie's Taiko, and 4MS SMR in this. Space at a premium is making this harder, and not sure about having the Mangrove as #2 to the uBraids but I can't think of anything better.
Also I want to try a Just Friends but can't seem to justify it over something else

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
Noise Reap order delivered, racked and rocked:
RPG:

ISD Sampler & Crossfade:

RPG is a pretty good improv drummer. ISD is dirty and very lofi, but it's great. It shaves off a lot of the top end and definitely encourages use of extra distortion, and that is when it really starts to shine. Sounds awesomely trashy with the Plague Bearer and Great Destroyer, and it does some excellent bitcrushing noises when detuning drum samples. Great module to plug into your dirt pedals for sure. The bit-trashy pitch shifting also wreaks some real good havoc on the Wogglebug oscillators, absolutely takes them into the new territory I was hoping for.

I love the idea of those Noise Reap modules. I love reading that guy's ad copy.
