To be fair that Leslie pedal sounds pretty great for $80

edit: I bet some marketing dweeb pushed this because of their effects being associated with cheapness, which maybe they don't realize is their main appeal

Maybe they're being ironic.

Either way I don't like their design, and I doubt that they'll be anything groundbreaking. :idk:

I got a Fabtone for like $5 12 years ago or something, maybe more.. anyway, I read all the mods you can do to it because I find it to be quite the opposite of fabulous tone and pulled all the hard clipping diodes out of it and the Cap that makes it sound horrible.. C7 or C4.. can't remember. After all those mods it actually sounds pretty good though. I mean its similar to a tube screamer IMO. I also put a cool blue indicator LED in it while I did it :joy:
anyone else know of any cool mods for these piles?

After extensive tone tests and gear shootouts over the last week, I finally feel comfortable slimming down to one tube amp for everything I'm doing. I have my custom 300W head from Dunwich (Mr. Grumpy), so I tried it at various volumes, for bass and guitar, amp only, with just a boost and as a pedal platform for heavy tones. I already knew it was good for clean bass and heavy guitar tones with pedals, but I'd tried getting slightly dirty or full sounding clean guitar tones out of it, particularly with spring reverb for surf rock tones. It worked out perfectly, so now I feel better about liquidating the remaining guitar heads I have. I'm just going to hold onto my GK MB800 Class D head as a bass backup and easy to move jam amp (fits in the pocket of a gigbag).

Fender Japan gets all the cool shit. http://store.ishibashi.co.jp/ec/pro/disp/1/80-313602900

Also, Fender won't even let you access the Japanese site anymore. Even if you click a direct link from a search engine, it automatically redirects you to the US site (or whichever is your "region"). Won't let me change region, either, though that may just be broken. Gonna have to find a workaround.

I just finally ordered the rest of the shit to build my Gristleizer. The JFET is a 2N3819, with a J113 reported as working also.. but I found a couple of the Original for like $7, so I got them coming too. It's apparently a black magic build with a bunch of voodoo sauce sprinkled on and unicorn farts and pixie blow necessary to make it sound good, and even then most people report only 3 of the 4 wave shapes actually sound amazing. I don't have a oscilloscope so I'll be trimming the wave shapes by hand/ear so hopefully it'll be ok! I've wanted one for years so this is pretty exciting to me
:joy:
I'll let you guys know how it goes once I get it soldered up.

Fenders websites are utter bullshit. Even if you google something and get their site as a result, you get bounced to the homepage where it is then impossible to find what it was you were trying to look at. God damn.

As someone who has owned a couple of gristleizers and played a couple more, I'm pretty sure that's mostly because it will feel like a tremolo and a bassballs if you don't know what you're doing.

Which model are you following? Also this probably deserves its own thread I WANT TO SEE THE PHOTOS

I'll start one when the shit comes in. I'm doing the musicpcb version. It had the best reviews and least tick mentioned, as well as a blinky rate Led. So I was sold. :joy: I watched rectal hygienists video (about 800 times) which is based off the musicpcb board. I'm pumped as shit
