David Duke tweeted to Trump "I would recommend you take a good look in the mirror & remember it was White Americans who put you in the presidency, not radical leftists."

For once, David Duke speaks the truth.

(Even if Trump claims he knows nothing of Duke.)

Iommic Pope wrote:Mass education is more of a class issue than one of innate intelligence or latent ability, it was designed to be, but there is still space for these gifts to break through.

Its true that our brains havent evolved to cope with our lifestyles. But putting that down to laziness or a "choice not to evolve" is somewhat reductive. The fact that social and economic environmental factors have been in constant flux since the industrial revolution and have not kept up with the technological impact it has had on our lives is probably more the issue here. Particularly considering its the same old money thats trying to hold back the tide of change with one hand while selling our asses back to us in the form of the latest iphone with the other. There was never the opportunity to break down class divides and provide the economic space necessary to catch everybody up on this whole education and rethinking human society thing. And we have suffered ever since.
We weren't ready for utipia then and we're starting to realise the ship may have sailed.

Overly dramatic and not well iterated enough post ended.
Yes, that is a good point. Should people be held accountable for their own ignorance? Its kind of like a freewill question. There a circumstantial factors that come into play which can effect and keep people from growing but when do you (can you?) separate environmental circumstances between a failure to act on an individual level to grow?

Faldoe wrote:I'm not. I agree there is a difference between being critical of Israel versus being anti-Jew but there are people on the left that hate Jews - cause of Israeli policy - but also cause they buy into conspiratorial themes regarding Jews.
I don't know anyone on the left who hates Jews. A few nutjobs who buy into conspiracy theories do not define the ideology of the left.
Faldoe wrote:Are you equating education with intelligence? In that the latter likely cannot be had without the former? Or that education automatically vanquishes ignorance?
I am not equating education with innate intelligence. As for education vanquishing ignorance, that is the whole point of education. https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/ignorance
Faldoe wrote:The insanity on college campuses is evidence that one can be educated - earn a degree or attend a prestigious college - but not be intelligent. I'm in no way defending right wing stupidity and racism but to point out that things aren't that black and white in terms of "Left = less ignorant" because they are better educated.
I don't see that. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to get a college degree, but you do have to be at least fairly intelligent and willing to work hard. And again, someone who is better educated is less ignorant by definition. I doubt you will find many well educated people in racist organizations.

But perhaps you were conflating ignorance with immorality. Having a college degree doesn't make someone a good person, and not having a college degree certainly doesn't make someone a bad person. But there is a lot to be said for being exposed to new ideas and the socialization that goes along with the college experience. People often come away with a new understanding of the world, and of other people, that they didn't have before.
Faldoe wrote:The problem in this country is that we are human beings* and people are lazy and don't want to look within themselves and evolve so they point the finger outside themselves.
In my opinion, racists epitomize that statement. They are completely lacking in objectivity. They can't accept that their miserable lives are their o
wn fault, so they look for outsiders to blame. Because everything is everybody else's fault.
Prejudice is a roots of racism. Racism is bad. People seem to think, however, that other forms of prejudice aren't equally a problem, I'm not sure why. They can equally poison people's views towards other groups: whether its by religion, class, gender, sexual orientation, ethic/tribal lines.

I think what is so insidious about people on the left that harbor either anti-semitic or anti-X views is that they often don't realize their mistakes and media analysts often fail to point them out cause everything seems to be filtered through these false dichotomies where if someone is racist - legitimately racist like the KKK - and there are counter demonstrators, there is the assumption that the latter must necessarily represent a side without prejudice. This is a mistake to assume.

I'm not, to be clear, trying to equate anti racist protestors as being on the same moral (or lack thereof) ground as people like the KKK. I'm trying to point out there are all these trap doors in our reasoning, potentially, and one is what a lot of people on the left - not liberals but leftists - are falling prey too, which is a unconscious (or often it is) reactionary prejudice towards people they disagree with - even those that aren't racist.

I wasn't conflating ignorance with morality.

Can you give some examples of left wing antisemitism or anti-X (is that "X" as in algebraic placeholder "X"?) going unchallenged and/or unchecked by media analysts (or by their fellow lefties)? Particularly cases in which the person in question claims to be anti-racist while also being antisemitic?

I'm just really curious as to whom you're referring.

Liam Neeson needs to come back and remake Schindler's List to explain why we should punch Nazis in the face.

That or maybe Harrison Ford can do another Indiana Jones film.

I've brought up Hanlon's razor three times today.
The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents.
