2x15 for bass and guitar use

Post by Faldoe »

I think I want/need another cab to go with my 4x12 - fryette pit bull UL and fryette deliverance 4x12. I use both a guitar in standard and a baritone and I think an added 2x15 will aid in the tightening/fullness of the lowend. I also play bass and want a cab to use with my GK 400RB.

What would be a good 2x15 that could be used with both rigs?

Relevant to my interest, but I'm considering a single 15in cab. I have to move my bass and guitar amps from the practice space into the house, and definitely don't have room for everything. Any way to have one can do both real nicely?

I'd suggest to try the Celestion Truvox speakers, same as used in the Matamp bass 2x15. I used them in an old Fender Bassman 215 for a couple of years, both with baritone (Fender Bassman 100 head) and bass (Marshall JCM800 Bass head).
You're not a musician, you're a low frequencies generator!

Good deals: starcastic, multi_s, Ragged Trousers, phantasmagorovich x2, delaydecay, Aen, plotkin, TheOndrakGuy, Grandnoise, smallsnd/bgsnd, jskadiang, WtrPlyr, sp3k, AngryGoldfish, dan_abnormal, laekna x11, casperh7, FreakFlagRecordings, MEC x3, CaptainBoxman, wsf1234, durden26, Communarchy, painbeam, hipwaf, shrubber, chutneyfarmer, John, colossus, Jero, Jono, DarkAxel, Lebowsky, Eivind August, Snufkino, boneslygrifter

What model Truvox? The ones I saw are PA speakers.

Those old Peavey 2x15's with Black Widows in them are actually pretty good and you can often get them for dirt cheap.

I use a 2x15 with Eminence Deltas for guitar and bass and it's sick. I'd definitely recommend PA speakers for whatever.

I have a 2x15 loaded with Jensens that sounds inreciidble with either guitar or bass. it honestly sounds much more natural with my guitar vs gt75s/v30s. cant cut the bass tho even when it's 0 on my amp lol
i'm glad i can call you a friend. even if i'll never see you again

Exactly, Celestion Truvox 1525, 250w each.

Get one of these and then the matching 4x12 (same size) to go with it. Have a punishing rig.

Maybe not really the sort of answer you were looking for...But have you ever tried pairing that 4x12 with a 4x10 cab instead of a 2x15? I understand why people always think about 15's when they're putting together a bass/baritone rig, but in terms of being suitable for guitar and not making any comprimises when it comes to tight lows, it's worth looking into imo.

What works for me obviously can't work for everyone though, 2X15 cabs can be a great mix with 4x12 cabs too, to each their own ofcourse :idk:

I've seen Mesa diesel 2x15s for a decent price, and they are amazing. I think they've been in both 400 and 800 watt configs. Just can't remember if the config options are 8 and 4ohm. You wouldn't want a 4 ohm cab on the ultra lead, esp with the deliverance 4x12. I've asked fryette about mismatched cabs since I've got a fatbottom 2x12 and 4x12, and they said you can do it safely, but the sound is way out of balance.

Mismatched impedance wise? And thanks for this cause I was also wondering. The Deliverance can do 4/16 ohm mono and I'm wondering if I can find a 2x15 at 16 ohm so I can get 8 ohms on the head. 4 and 4 would be 2 ohm and the head can't do that.
