Need to take a couple photos ---
But have parenthesis on my left wrist ...small.
Have a ship's helm with my family's last name under it as an homage to my grandfather (grew up sailing w him)
And I have Curious George holding a kite with my daughters birthday in the kite (she LOVES curious George).

Weirdly enough, i feel like a brand or scarification would have to be way more personal.
I mean, its all personal...

Re- scarification and branding. These to me are not art forms. They are a form of self mutilation and very prone to infection. I had a friend that branded himself with a ninja star, not once, but twice. It got horribly infected because it's basically a second or third degree burn. He's lucky he was able to get it healed, but it took like 8 fucking months. I'll never understand this type of shit. Just like I don't understand tongue splitting and the hole hook hanging shit. Ugh. I hate it.

Tattoos on the other hand, I love. I think people lump all this shit together. I'd NEVER get anything other than a tat done anymore. I don't even think I'd get a piercing. Mostly because I've had them torn out (one out of my fucking eyebrow).

Do what you will, but for the love of God, please think hard about it first.

i dont see a difference because to me scares that I have are like tattoos..its tells a story and shows a little about where I am at, in life.. and what ive been through...body modification in short is and for some showing your self and who ever you come across that the body is not sacred and we can change ourselves and whatever in life as we see fit to be happy and have fun. ...amoxicillin comes in handy too. my mind changes too much to get anything done that i'd enjoy for life, even my own art/symbols ive made and used religiously on all my work end up years later just being cool & alright but loose some kind of potency for me, it worked at the time... but its cool to notice that your head space grows beyond a certain period in your life, scares heal, minds change, and some guy with a clown on his arm is a clown for life.

See I don't agree with body mods. I mean, you or anyone else can do them, that's cool. I think that is the kind of shit folks regret down the road. I'd rather have a silly ass clown on me than my tongue split. I almost fucking did it too. Thank fuck I didn't.

Tattoos are supposed to be something you can commit to for life. That's why you shouldn't get them when you're drunk. :) Seriously. I have tons of tats I regret, one I'm getting lasered off right now. I have a lot I love too. They are part of who I am.

The thing that fucks me up about the body mods is that they are so savagely done. Nothing says "I'm hardcore" like a good old fashioned staff infection. You know because the people doing these things aren't surgeons and that's exactly what they are doing, a form of surgery.

I'll just never understand it, but whatever.

Also, just note this. Some scars don't go away man. I have ones from injuries that have been on my body for almost 20 years.

I got this done about three weeks ago, this was taken fresh after finishing though. I'm really happy with it! The artist was Sole Del Real at Black Hive in Jax FL if anyone is curious.

Thanks man! Yeah Sole was great, not just for the artwork but the entire experience with her was great. Definitely worth finding an artist who's good and not a shitty human haha.

I have an awful peace sign with tribal flames around it that I'm pretty sure was meant to be a tramp stamp (being 18 and drunk, I'm lucky it's not visible at least) + the Descendents "I Don't Want To Grow Up" album cover just above the crook of my arm that I got when I turned 30.

Never got bigger work because I wasn't sure what I was doing in my life but that appears to be 'owning two comic book stores until the economy completely shits the bed and we're all living in Mad Max-world' so I think I'm good now.

One of the ideas that's been lurking in my head for almost twenty years is a bomb painted with a shark's grin (like fighter nose art) plowing into a world that's exploding. Still not sure how I'd want it exactly.

That's super nice.

Re scarification and branding etc: It's nothing I'd do at this stage of my life. But I'm not principally against it - it's a bit more "out there" than tattooing so you tend to get a wider span of weirdos wanting it to do it and performing it. But that shouldn't detract from the fact that there are totally skilled folks doing really quality work as well, and scarification has been a part of human tradition as long as tattooing. But, the good work tends to get obscured by the total shit out there (which jwar you are right just leads to injury).

I need to post my tattoos. Got lots of good fun stuff these days.

I don't really have any pics of my tattoos but Motorhead shared this after I got it done a few years ago and I was excited enough to screen shot their post.
