I didn't get much of a flanger sound out of it either.
I liked using it to modulate an oscillating fuzz.

I've heard a lot of people say that. Which is a shame, because it can actually do really good flanger tones, but its not very obvious what the controls do, so its hard to think of a sound, look at the knobs and know how to get there. It took me quite a while to figure it all out.

Right on. I'll use it for typical flanger sounds also but that won't be my first use for the pedal!

I eventually figured out some flanging and I got some good settings from others off Harmony Central. The controls are not really intuitive, and the graphics on the front are almost misleading! I got the most out of the control schematic in the instructions and this web site: http://www.modezero.com/flanger-hoax.htm

I'm no flanger expert, but I have one of these and like it pretty good. Does auto-sweep and manual sweep and blends of the 2. Also has internal trimpots to dial in self-oscillation at the peaks of the sweeps if you want them. Built like a tank too. Definitely does more of the whooshy than the clangy.
i had juan and i liked it...but i needed to move it at the time for other pedlol's were giving me gas at the time. i should have kept it and modded it.

I have an M9. The Airplane flanger on that is my favourite, it's fantastic and organic and usable. However I also have an Electric Mistress that I use for Chorus/Flanger sounds. After hearing and trying various Flangers, the Deluxe Electric Mistress is my favourite. The Stereo is a bit naff.

I have ignored everyone's advise and gone with the MXR Micro Flanger
:

I think this is the polar opposite of the Flanger Hoax.

I got a Morley Sapphire Flanger in a box of pedals that nedded to be repaired. Came with box, instructions and warranty card. Just replaced the switch and LED and it was ready to go. I don't like it after dirt but after dirt it sounds awsome and is pretty versatile.

Sweet find! I'm always on the look out to get something that nice dead but doesn't happen too often.
I've only heard clips of it but it just seemed like a straight up flanger with good controls, heard alot of nice things too... might build one up one of these days.
The MXR Micro Flanger does look cool though and a nice small footprint... i'll be interested to hear what that re-issue's like.
