The Best Resonant filter+Fuzz?

Post by 01010111 »

I really like the sound of the lgal devil tail but I wish the filter was a bit more resonant, almost resonant enough to self oscillate. The Atom Filter by The Syle comes close to what I'm thinking, but it's not dirty/fuzzy enough. I suppose I could combine a good fuzz pedal with a resonance filter or wah or something if there's nothing commercially available, but then which one? Is there such a thing as a fuzz pedal with a resonance filter?

I actually just saw that thread and felt a little stupid for posting. But that fairfield one isn't quite high enough gain for me, I might try out the smallsound/bigsound one when they get to fuzzhugger, it sounds promising.

But the sound I'm looking for is similar to the guitar tones from wild zero, but I'd like them to be even nastier/ear-piercing/resonant, like nails on a chalkboard heard through a two cans on a string while there's heavy construction nearby, and random explosions. :animal:

I love the tone of the Peace Gun, but it's more pretty than it is nasty in my opinion. Sounds like cicadas on a summer night's breeze (with a slight octave.)

The other thing I just thought of is the The Squarewave Parade MoleS20r. It's based on the filters from the Korg MS-20 analog synth, but adds a gain stage and a distortion stage. It's more filter than fuzz, but it can make hella noise. They're out of production, but every now and then one turns up. It's one of my favorites.

If you're looking for the filter section alone you might consider this:

You can patch out the filter section alone, you get a great little sound gadget plus it's - at least supposedly - the real MS-20 filter. And it's cheap. A win-win-win situation. I'll get one as soon as they're out, for sure.
