Wowza. I had been looking at the Disaster Transport (Jr? The one with two foot switches) to become my new delay, but this is very impressive. I never knew what it was capable of until this video, and it looks perfect!

I admittedly glossed over the DTsr because I just assumed it was two delays in one box and it's not particularly cheap, but now I understand! This and a a new CT5 should make my board happy in 2017. Yes.

I have both the standard Disaster Transport (two switches, one for bypass and one for modulation), as well as the SR. The Jr. is the single-switch version that's been discontinued. In some ways I like the standard version more (it's simpler and easier to dial in the right sound). With the SR, you'll get more options, but there's a lot to tweak, including balancing out your separate delay times and mix values so they sound more agreeable with each other. It really depends on whether you want more versatility or more immediate gratification.

Have you used Zzounds? They have 4-installments (no credit check) or 6-installments. Their minimum order total is $59. I think it used to be $250, but it's been lowered.

Maybe not the best place but... my DT jr makes a weird high pitched noise whenever it is engaged. It's silent when not engaged. Turning the knobs has no impact on pitch or intensity. Any idea what it might be, or do I just send it in for a repair?

Yeah it's done it the whole time. I assume it's my rig or something in shipping, not that you sent it faulty. I've only tried it with headphones and that tends to make weird issues happen. I've been powering it with my ojai, but I'll try it all alone just to check.

Could it be clock noise you're hearing? Does it persist regardless of where the tone knob is positioned?

Thanks for the ideas. I'll experiment more today. I've unfortunately only had a chance to try it twice with finals and family festivities. Each time it made the noise so I turned it off after a minute or two of fiddling.

pt2399 chips usually have whitenoise when pushed, right?
analog delays get that super high pitch whining going at longer times.

Right. You can hear it in the Knobs demo, as well. My old ears don't quite hear it as high-pitched, but I still recognize it.

Eh, often I get a lil' jacked up on coffee, at work...

Here's a little somethin', somethin' about the tone knob.

Most delay pedals are heavily filtered at the output to remove the clock noise and other unwanted hash that is common from extending the range of the delay time beyond the limit of the circuitry. This usually leaves the delay sounding dark, muddy and disappear when hitting it with dirt. The Disaster Transport has done away with a lot of the heavy filtering and replaced it with a tone control which allows the user to choose their desired sound and results in more natural tape-like repeats. The tone control is at it's darkest fully counter clockwise and brightens as you turn it clockwise. A good rule of thumb is to leave the tone control between off (fully counter clockwise) and noon at longer delay times. This will remove all the common noise from hyper-extending the circuit.

So after some further testing I only have more questions. I tried a number of things to try to rule out variables.
1. Full pedalboard including DT Jr, just everything normal. Made noise, didn't seem to change with any knobs.
2. Unplugged DT Jr from Ojai power supply and plugged into 1spot by itself, similar volume noise but different pitch.
3. Plugged in other delays and ran the same tests (TC Alter Ego x4 and 80 tape In Limbo iii) and had similar results.
4. Ran selected tests on different outlet for same results but a different pitch altogether.

Maybe it's just my power in my room? I've never noticed the noise before? I still kind of think it's my amp. At home I use a Micro Terror that has now been dropped a few times. Just weird to me that it only happens with certain effects, and most noticeably with delays.

edit: redid my board as a break from studying and now I don't have a noise issue? I only left the In limbo on there, but IDK what changed?
