Re: Filters and LFOs
I missed a lot of good info here, thanks guys.
Weirdly enough, i read an article/review the other day that mentioned plugging the ehx 8 step into a filter pedal to get those murf sequenced things going on (this was hot on the heels of invisible man and i making a pact to saw our dicks off if there was ever a compact and affordable murf).
Anyone done this with a less feature packed filter pedal or can do it that wants to report back?
My other thouggt was get the lightning wave cv generator thingo.
Thougts?

I've been looking at that doepfer mtv16. A little diy but, I can use midi to individually control up to 16 CV things from my DAW.

Yes, but it also is significantly cheaper than most other options I see out there, and it basically just needs a power supply if you're not in europe, an enclosure and jacks. 100.00 EuroIommic Pope wrote:That seems very interesting....

Re: Filters and LFOs
I have an 8 step, and an arf incoming. Vidret also has a few rad filter pedals so we could try some stuff out and see what gets closer

Re: Filters and LFOs
The 8 step will do what you want, yeah. Repeatable filter sequences. But it will not do anything like what the MuRF does. Ballpark, maybe...the MuRF has the envelope control that gives you primitive A/R and a kind of weird control over a VCA.
I feel like I am getting close to repping this thing hard enough that it's becoming cliche (or a signature pedal for me), but the Pitchfactor actually has something kinda similar. For a one-pedal solution, it's the one I'd recommend. You can select from enough pitch- and rhythm sequences that the options are basically infinite; you have control over the envelope of the sequence; you can turn off pitch and rhythm sequences and just use filter effects that are synced to tap temp/MIDI clock/adjustable BPM.
Doesn't sound the same as the MuRF, but on paper it does similar stuff.
Or you could get an 8 step and any filter with cv control over frequency. It'll basically sound like a step filter (Spatial Delivery, &c). These sounds are one of my jams, iPope, which is evident in our DickSaw pact.

Re: Filters and LFOs
Oh and I used one on a Moog MF Drive. The filter is nice, but not that wide or wild as far as filters go. Tooled for a dirt pedal, and it basically splits the difference between a wah and a wider/steeper filter.
But the 8 step means you could also sequence delay times on your MF delay or whatever else you want. So you'll get some flex out of that...I just need silence in sequences, so I need some kind of VCA, which is why I don't have an 8 step anymore.
But since I'm rambling rather than paying attention to the thing in front of me...there is a 'gate out' mod that's pretty simple for the 8 step. Depending on what you use it with, you could drive a gate with it and get the same kind of results you'd get from a VCA.

Well, maybe not on it's own, but with a Cv amplifier... YASSS.
The 8V output would get you a pretty decent swing on the filter, but I would prefer bumping up a 5v signal. baremountain makes them...
