Amp/cab speakers! (what do you use)
What do you use and why? I'm pretty settled on what I'm using on my new cab but I'm just curious

Re: Amp/cab speakers! (what do you use)
i have been using my sunn concert lead half stack exclusivly of late. according to the stickers that were inside the head it was built in 1974. according to the guy i bought it off of who got it from his dad they are the original speakers in the 412L cab...
dont know what they are as i never opened up the cab but they sound great! very dark amp with awesome spring reverb!!!

I've got a pair of old Traynor 1x12s -- 1967 YGM2 and a 1972 YGM3 -- all hand-wired, tag board construction, made in Canada (waves flag).
Stock speakers are crap, so I've got UK Celestions in them both -- a Greenback and a Mesa/C90.

...and you love fuzzrites...we can be friends
I've got c90's and greenbacks now, but I'm thinking about trying some evm12l's in the port city wave I'm looking at.

Whoa those are a lot of speakers
You're right about the Jensen P12N, that one sounded great.

I'm partial to twins--I have a 1980 135 watt monster with JBL E120s that rings like a bell.

I've had good luck with Webers over the years. I have a 10A125 in a Princeton Reverb that makes me melt. And I put an Eminence Cannibus Rex in the Ampeg Gemini I, perfect match. But tried the same CR in a Reverberocket and it sounded too warm and honky, still trying out some other options.

Music Man HD212 [600 watt 2X12, speakers are Italian, can't remember the name, starts with a B]: Clear, tight and tons of head room.
SWR BIG BEN [1X18 Bag End speaker]: I've Had it forever, great for outdoor gigs.
Fender Bassman 20 [my practice amp, all tube 18 watts 1X15 "fender" speaker]
Ampeg JT-12 [coolness with trem] I hate the speaker though and and like to run it into other cabs...
Sunn ((O))) 1X15 cab with a celestion BN15-300X
WEBB [70's] 2X15 CAB with JBL D140Fs

I've got a 2x12 with Tone Tubby speakers. They're very warm sounding.

Re: Amp/cab speakers! (what do you use)
I have a 1x15 that was originally a Hartke, but I swapped out the speaker for a Peavey Black Widow. I also have a GK 2x10. The amp has been an old Peavey Mark VI from the 80s for quite a while, but I just bought a Genz Benz Shuttle last night.

Re: Amp/cab speakers! (what do you use)
all my vintage stuff have the original speaks......for new cabs i like celestion alnico golds alot, but they are too expensive for me load all my cabs with....so i use eminence guvnors, texas heat, or man o war for 12's, delta demons for 10's. i have one cab loaded with tone tubby 12's.
i love old jenson speaks but haven't tried the new ones yet....
