Should I buy Jimmy Chamberlain's Yamaha G50II even though I don't really have the money for it?

There's a G100-112 for like $160 on craigslist in NYC that I am so tempted to get, but I've never heard one of them in person.foomanfat wrote:Should I buy Jimmy Chamberlain's Yamaha G50II even though I don't really have the money for it?

I've got the fifty 112 and it sounds nice but the distortion is an acquired taste ... nice grill cloth

Agreed -- I can get a decent light od out of it with the parametric eq, but mostly play the clean channel.JereFuzz wrote:I've got the fifty 112 and it sounds nice but the distortion is an acquired taste ... nice grill cloth
My reverb hums though. I should get that fixed.

Reconnect the pan, clean off the contacts .
Failing that, replace pan.
$20-30 tops.

I had to get the reverb fixed but I get an occasional drop out that's remedied by a very light kick to the side ...spacelordmother wrote:Agreed -- I can get a decent light od out of it with the parametric eq, but mostly play the clean channel.JereFuzz wrote:I've got the fifty 112 and it sounds nice but the distortion is an acquired taste ... nice grill cloth
