If obtainium were a word, unobtainium would be forgivable. "I went down the GC to pick up some obtanium first, and then hit up ILF..."Chankgeez wrote:unobtainium

Re: And the most annoying term used in Boutique land is.....
I hate for my forth post on this forum to be in a troll thread, but the only thing that ever really irked me in any way was "on tap". Volume "on tap". Gain "on tap". I think it has more to do with repetition than the actual phrase, though. It's like when the 24-hour news people get hold of a catch phrase and run it into the ground. At one time I wanted to strangle the next person who said "pork barrel" or "energize the base".
I suppose I have a lot of anger on tap.

Damn it, I actually like this word. It is over-used, but with every one sucking up the last vestiges of mid century materials production trying to roll another fucking clone (<--that one, that's the word that herds) of some 70s supergroup sound it will ring out with the ages.Chankgeez wrote:unobtainium

Not to go back too far, but there's some gold on pages 2 and 3 of this thread.
Fat and wooly also annoy.
This is not what I see with our friendly pedal artists on here, but in my social media there's always some kind of "I've got this killer idea, I am going to announce it in June...should be shipping in August...er September...er preorder now for Holiday order in November...ok, New Years pedal shipping...Hey, Lunar New Year pedal pre-order...beware the ides of March. Happy Easter pedal, new renderings...ok, summer solstice release is on..."
This was my first thought. Fucking "transparent"t...also ad "3D" in this mix. It's fucking sound waves. They move from a source in three motherfucking dimensions.Disarm D'arcy wrote:Honestly the worst word that can be associated with pedals and the pedal business to me is "transparent"

No way, it was actually intentional???The Eristic wrote:^ Are you suggesting coconuts migrate?
From TGP via google:
"just for the record King of the "Britains" is mispelled intentionally.
on the earliest ones at Namm show 1998 people did not understand the correct spelling. i got tired of explaining what Britons were.
i actually got questions from a guitarist if a Briton had something to do with atoms and electrons... go figure.
brian
menatone"
Also, Menatone's stuff is pretty good. If I only had one amp, I'd keep a couple of his amp-in-a-box things around.
Getting fed up explaining what a Briton is shouldn't automatically lead to the pluralisation of Britain.
I mean, I assume it's a Holy Grail reference, he should have just told everyone to go watch that instead of writing wrong and silly things on his pedals.

I cordially invite you to fuck right off and let the rest of us talk about music like adults.- dubkitty

Seriously fuck PLL's. They suck and are the probably the most unusable garbage out there.
What drives me bat shit crazy the most about the boutique world is limited runs. I'm cool with limit art runs, or limit runs specific to one forum or site, but the random ones drive me nuts. I don't get the point. A limited run of God knows what and it sells instantly because of the name. That's it. It's not because you spent any time advertising it or making it seem cool, it's because the name is loved. That's lame as shit in my book. I'm sorry. It seems to happen too often too. How does anyone even get excited over stuff like this anymore? Almost every time I buy a limited run pedal (no offense builders) I am incredibly underwhelmed. I know, I may be in the minority but I'm so done with the whole "rare" circuit bs. If it's not available when I want it, I don't have any desire to try it.
The flip side is the folks who get butt hurt by limited runs being expanded. This is snobbery at it's finest. Your resale value just went down slightly bruh. Sorry.
Now, I will take full advantage of a limited run sometimes to sell something at asshole pricing "WATA", other than that...meh. MEH!
Except the ILFDD. Fuck you guys for flipping that so much.

I totally get the limited run hate, it almost always is just a source for hype and maybe some feel bads. I do kinda get it on the builders end though, I'd get real tired of building the same thing over and over again.
