Yeah I would like a ditto x4 but have qualms about the size and switches. I have an infinity and it is staying but another looper would be nice for my synths. Ehx 16 second is nasty but not conventional at all. I would love the time streching of the 16 second with the reliability, switches, size of the infinity.

Yeah. NUX uses those as well. Never had a problem with them myself, but guess I don't take the "stomp" in stomp boxes too literally.jrfox92 wrote: This is what you're actually pressing when you hit the footswitch. So, if you hit it hard enough, bye.

Re: Loopers be Loopin
I don't think that I stomp too hard, but I'm not particularly light on my feet either...
I might give that repair a shot, it doesn't look too hard
Btw, has anyone tried the BOSS DD500 looper? It seems like the Timeline's without all of the MIDI-accessible features, which would be great for a lot of folks given that it can be found for half the price.

Yes, it's crap. and it does takes MIDI for the 4 controls available...

Re: Loopers be Loopin
Why can't someone make a looper the size of the ditto with midi sync? Priced at 150 or so I would have a few around the studio and always be ready to record. I like looping bass and synths but am tired of having to unplug my guitar everytime and route a bunch of cables to make it work. I just need a bass and synth looper that can midi sync for cheap.

Re: Loopers be Loopin
Alright y'all, so I want a Looper with the ability to store multiple loops, nothing too fancy over that though. I've found the Boss RC-3 and the EHX 720, both of which I like. Boss wins on footprint, EHX on having a reverse mode. Any opinions on the pair?
I feel like neither is perfect (purely on paper, haven't played either), is there anything super cool I'm missing?

Re: Loopers be Loopin
I'd go EHX 720 over the RC-3, but that's because I hate single-footswitch loopers.
RC-3 is def better if you're primarily using it for live playback of loops (rather than live recording+overdubbing), since it can store 99 loops. You can get a second remote footswitch too.
Also look at the EHX 360 if you don't need 12+ loops, since if you don't then you're paying an extra $100 for the RC-3's awful "drum machine".

Re: Loopers be Loopin
I recently "upgraded" from a Neewer Looper to a Rowin Loop Station. The build quality of the Rowin seems comparable to the Neewer (in a good way), though I chose to reference the idea of an upgrade with scare quotes for a reason. Though it has two additional modes, the Loop Station offers nothing new in terms of real-time recording. It only records forward loops at normal speed and the record function is disabled in reverse mode. Basically, you can only record a "normal" sounding loop that is not altered until the mode switch is manually adjusted to one of the other positions. The results can be interesting for a cheap micro pedal, though it's still a major pain to have to lean down and flip a switch as opposed to having remote operation or the ability to record reverse, half speed, or double speed loops in real time. I may "upgrade" to the double mini format version with a second footswitch if the half speed and reverse modes continue to keep my interest.

Re: Loopers be Loopin
I have one never used the midi sync. I emailed them about using a regular midi controller since the sidecar isn't available and got this replycodetocontra wrote:Anyone use the Boomerang III with MIDI clock sync? Very interested in picking up the new Drumbrute and have a casual interest in syncing some loops.
Heard a rumor from somewhere that the Boomerang Side Car is no longer being made. Sort of a deal killer to not have it.
When Boomerang is acquired by a new owner, the Side Car(TM) controller should be available again. Using a third party MIDI controller doesn't work well because though our SC sends MIDI commands, they are not standard in format and usage.

Re: Loopers be Loopin
I hope Boomerang finds a buyer. The looper market is scarce and they made a solid product, would hate to see that disappear. Maybe the new buyers will put together a Rang IV with some newly improved features. A long time ago I sent Mike from Boomerang a long list of ideas to implement, and that is when our email exchange stopped. I guess it was too much. Regardless, I would consider a Rang III again someday.
I did not have a good experience with the Pigtronix Infinity but that was three years ago. Have they fixed the software yet. Is it stable now?

Re: Loopers be Loopin
I recall a thread (not sure where) of people making suggestions on things to add to in future versions of either boomerang firm and/or hardware. And he kind of blew it off as not need and then said there aren't anymore updates because his partner had passed.
Which is a shame because it's going on 6-7 years old and some other loopers still can't touch it but it is slowly becoming outdated.
If X4 hadn't been such a dud I think it would have been a rang killer.

Re: Loopers be Loopin
has the x4 firmware made that thing useable yet?
I'd love the ehx 720 if they loop seemelessly which don't think they do. .5 sec behind from what I gather.
might just add a ditto x2 to my akai e2 setup and call it good for the time being

Re: Loopers be Loopin
The x4 could've been great, it got close.
I kinda want to get an arduino or an fv-1 and code my own looper on one of those bypass looper cases, for confusion's sake.
Granted, my dream looper has a lot of features I don't see often.
-two loops independent or chained
-stop button that either stops at the end of the loop (one press) or immediately (two presses)
-dl4 style single play
-reverse/half speed
-fx loop
-lp/hp filter per loop
-stereo
-not gargantuan
It's not much to ask for.
