ANyone have an opinion on the Peavey Windsor heads?

$400 new for a tube head seems too good to be true...is it?

Peavey is very hit and miss in general. Mostly miss. They have some excellent economy products, and some crap that's so bad that it isn't worth the cash even at the rock-bottom prices you see it going for.

Lies, but Tech 21 stuff is definitely good for the money and great recording/practice amps.

If you just want a clean channel tube head....get a vintage silverface bassman head! You can find them any day of the week for under $500. At 50 watts they have plenty of headroom and are super easy to service if anything goes down. My 2 cents.

If your playing in a metal band with a loud drummer I wouldn't risk 18 watters having enough volume to keep up. 30 watts would probably be fine.
