Sounds real fun and is relatively cheap, but concerned he might be tooo lo-fi for my neeeds? Might give it a spin anyway.

It all depends on the settings, though you'll always stay within the realm of lo-fi. I think of it as something between a pedal and an instrument. On the more extreme settings your guitar very much becomes a part of the ambiance the pedal provide. Very caked sounding. Hope that helps :)

I'm sure it's great. I've almost purchased a few times but keep hesitating. The romferd is one of my favorite things ever

That's a the delay Bergen Improstorband built at my workshop Desember last year (Ognøy has it). This thing is modified by Moid and Duck_Arse over at DIYStompboxes. It's not the same circuit, but they're definitely related. That circuit kinda evolved to Solen, and Solen kinda evolved to the BandOrg workshop delay, but they all offer something different from one another.

I'll happily recommend the original circuit that my above demo was based on - I built it and then made some changes to fit my own personal tastes. I have discovered another (non) delay use for it which I enjoy. Set the feedback up fairly high (about 2 o'clock) then the Time to about 8PM or 9PM and the Modulate to about 3PM and you've got a mostly soft hissy fuzz / broken noises that your clean sound floats on top of... so it can be a sort of fuzz or a delay :). This should work on the original circuit too, the mods Duck_arse and myself added just make the effect more pronounced and intense. I managed to get a little of this sound at 4:55 in the video.

Goddamnit. Want. Must. Resist.

The Gjengangar was one of the nicest sounding delays I've ever had even without the unique gating capabilities. Should not have sold that.
