New (old) Mini Amps Day!

EDIT: I got two mini amps that look somewhat similar. One is a tube amp and the other is solid state.
Both are from the '60s or '70s and were originally used for editing sound film.

First up: they call these Moviola units "squawk boxes" on ebay. :joy: ALL TUBES! :omg: There's a couple on ebay, but I even have the odd plug to RCA plug so I can actually hook up a guitar to it. :thumb:

Dig the knob.

And, one of these; Similar to the above, but solid state and has a guitar jack.

I just tried finding what it sounded like on youtube and found one playing a wire tape recording of the atomic bomb testing. I wonder if you can do a reenactment of the explosion through that amp?
Do you like listening to homemade music? Me too. Why don't you try one of mine?

Yeah, I'll do one, but it'll have to wait a bit. I live in an apartment. :/

Yeah! :joy:

I recorded one clip each on the solid state amp and the tube amp.

Solid state: http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_so ... ID=9079270

Tubes: http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_so ... ID=9079271

Both start with the volume rolled back on my guitar, which I gradually turn up.

Excuse any mistakes

A second try with a tube Moviola URS.

Long and rambling, but I'm much happier with the sound of this one. :thumb: Experimented with some delay in the middle.

The solid state has a nice and clean sound to it, even when pushed. Meanwhile, the tube amp has a really nice old-school sound with some artifacts in the signal which make it almost sound like an LP recording. Really dig the demos, man!

Niiiiiiice. I'm a Michigander living in NY now. Grew up in Brighton, lived in Ann Arbor and Royal Oak for a bunch of years, then headed east.
