That's a bummer, PV. I'm sorry. Drinking probably won't help, though.

I know it won't. And it feels foolish to give up ten years of work and self-improvement. I jutst want to feel less torn to pieces than I do rignt now.

That fucking blows, sorry dude. I know it's not the nicest to say but honestly if someone has those kind of issues it's better it came up now then down the road, good time to practice mindfulness! (or read up on it!)
"To my lay mind, the lobster's behavior in the kettle appears to be the expression of a preference; and it may well be that an ability to form preferences is the decisive criterion for real suffering."

I feel for you, PV. When my fiancé and I split, it was for similar reasons. She wanted to take some time to grow and discover herself independently. Which, after 7 years, nearly destroyed me. Stay strong, and feel free to send me a message if you need to vent.

So sorry to hear that, Psychic!
Positive thought: you're right in thinking that it'd be a bad idea to give up ten years of work and self-improvement. Being a non-drinker myself, I've done precisely that—quit for a while and decided to go back and test the waters, although it was under less stressful circumstances. Long story short: it wasn't worth it. Drinking just wasn't the same, it started to make trouble in my life again, and I always regretted starting over.
Everybody's different, so I'm not trying to sound like my experience is the best way or anything. It just sounds like you have the right idea, and I'm here to try and bolster that if I can. Sorry you're in this position—I know it sucks. Feel better.

As an alcoholic, I want to tell you just to do whatever you can to feel ok. You don't have to feel better or get over it, just know drinking won't help you and may actually make your situation worse. I know how you feel. I had something similar happen to me before I met my wife, except the girl I was with broke up with me and fucked a guy in the house I was crashing in all in the same night. I got piss drunk and it make me a wreck emotionally and physically. I wanted to die. It's not worth it and in the short time you've been here, I can tell you're an awesome person. Which means you deserve better.psychic vampire. wrote:I know it won't. And it feels foolish to give up ten years of work and self-improvement. That is an extremely shitty way for him to break up with you too.
Know that you have support here. We all help each other when we can! That's what's so great about this place.
Stay strong!

Re: The spite, hate, rage, apathy and mild irritation thread
Just wanted to say thanks for all the good and kind words, y'all.
I can't really make good predictions about what the next few weeks will be like, but i might not be posting too, too much. Got a lot of "reassessing what my future is about to look like" to do. But y'all are kind, good folks on the internet, which is a fucking thing, so thanks.

Re: The spite, hate, rage, apathy and mild irritation thread
Yeah, i'm still on the internet. My friend called out of work for me for the week, i'm tryna figure it all out. I've been really unhappy at my current job for a while, so i might take some more time off. Mostly just watching various anime and movies i've been meaning to get around to, and getting used to owning a computer for the first time in years. Apparently i have nearly 200 gigs of music, so i'm deleting some of that. Worrying too much about losing the future i'd been looking forward to, so just trying to make it a few minutes at a time. Again, thank you all. Really. It's hard for me to believe people's kind words - bc crazy brain - but it is meaningful.

Girlfriend's clingier-than-Saran Wrap ex has apparently decided to resurface via weirdly stalky means.
I don't want to seem insecure. But I also want to rip his heart out and feast upon it.

Pedal I sold on Reverb never showed up. Sold it in Canada but dude didn't wanna pay up for shipping with tracking and now of course it's not there. I'm going to get fucked on this I just know it.
