Open Source ILF Collab 2016 -- Album Finished

Thinking I won't need that much extra time, actually. Should be able to turn it in late Tuesday night. I've just been listening to it over and over and would love to come back to it for final finishing stuff when I'm not so worn out with it.

I think that's been the hardest thing about this / what I've spent the most time on. Goddamn kick drum!

I've never made anything totally out of samples, but it's been a really fun challenge. How mine will actually come out, that's another story

I'm answering myself because I'm better at readin in the morning, it seems. Email, so probably mp3 . I'm not sure sending a 120+MB wav file would be a good idea .

Hahah, I think I actually set my recorder to 24 bit 96KHz, which is definitely overkill for what I recorded . I'll see if I can manage something on Dropbox, otherwise I'll encode the thing in 320kbps mp3...

One thing to consider here: this is going onto bandcamp anyway, but the best results will come from sending the highest quality format you can muster -- after all, it has to get sequenced and then mastered (even if it's just levelling).

Ah, was going to ask about what kind of mastering you may or may not be doing. Was wondering whether I should put a limiter on my final mix to make more standard listening-level loudness.

Don't do mp3! That kills the high frequency data. Just convert to 24 bit 48kHz Wav. Or keep the 96 version for mastering.

I offered to D.o.S., and I'll pass it along to y'all, I could master these. I do mastering for broadcast and/or video at work when I'm not recording or mixing. In which case, put a limiter on the one you send D.o.S, but a not limited version when it gets to me.

But yeah, if we assume the all-wonderful DRodz is going to master this (as I believe we should now), I think we should defer to his expertise here.

Cool. Was very confused why people were talking multiples. Also -- I am assuming our process notes/diatribe/manifestos will go in the this thread (or a new one once the beast is loose?) and not to you in the email?
