I think having any kind of utility pedals on the board that you need but others don't see as fun or useful quickly end up costing you votes.

truth is you have it there for a reason, people who look at the board just want to see lots of awesome peddles.

I do that.
Although I'm a bit more forgiving depending on the context.
After the millionth Count to Five, I sort of go blind to it. Particularly if they're on what an essentially vanilla board otherwise.
But if you've got some rad synth/weird instrument rig going on I can totally see how that would be more effective.

I appreciate utility pedals because they're there to make a good thing great.
It's all about that ability to make riffs huge.
