I have 2 Danelectros - Probably just need one?

Post by letsgocoyote »

I have two danelectro U1's. ones yellow, ones purple. i bought the second one (and the first one) at a fair price. i figured what the heck, when i bought the second one at a music shop in spokane, thinking it'd be cool to havel ike a backup. but i dont gig (wish i did but i dont) and I am seriously considering selling the purple one. its cute, but ultimately between the two i have to keep the yellow one, as i bought it to replace a yellow U1 i had several years back.

anyways, this is where you convince to A) keep it or B) sell it and get other gear.

I want...
but not at the expense of you losing one of your favorite guitars.

Keep it if you love it and use both of them enough.

Sell it because dano is a douche and you can buy some pedals with the scratch, like say a CCB.
Do you like listening to homemade music? Me too. Why don't you try one of mine?

i like em both, but i mean, they are the same thing. they both play about as well as each other, but the yellow one has seniority. and you can only play one at the same time

and whats a CCB

gear im pining for right now is a Vox Pathfinder (wanna mod it for a 10" speaker and swap the power amp chip for more headroom), a boss DD-7, and a snare drum

I was doing subliminal spam... :p

But seriously, if you love both guitars you should just keep them. If you feel that you won't be disappointed in selling it and getting one of those instead, go ahead and sell it.

Maybe get a bari replacement neck. I have a U2 bari and from what I can tell the bodies are the same.

Or use one for a strange tuning.

All good options. Cash is good. More pedals are good. Alternate tunings are good. Throwing different pickups or tone stacks or necks or bigsby's or whatever on em are also good. Up to you I suppose. If you're asking this question you probably want to sell it... I try not to have too much overlap in my collection, personally. With guitars anyways. Fuzz, on the other hand, gets sliced to a much finer degree before it's considered overlap. :picard:

Not sure if you're into it but you could install the sitar bride on the purple one.

It can be found on this page with two demo videos: http://www.danguitars.com/Parts.html

Ive actually seriously considered the sitar bridge in the past. it would be pretty rad, but also a somewhat novelty. anyways, plenty of ideas to dwell on

If it helps your decision at all, I have tons and tons of fun with my DD-7 + an external tap :idk:
