Spun it for an hour this morning....
Cool contrast to the germanium Hoofs I'm used to! The fuzz is tighter, and sounds excellent especially with lower gain settings--it keeps nice girth. Higher gain toanz can be really full-bodied or mosquito thin depending on the shift. Wide range of control. I like these 4-knobs for being able to boost the mids, and never dig too much scoop...would probably serve as a great swiss-army-hoof tho, and has lots of great familiar silicon muffy tones. I used it after my all-ge Tone Reaper...worked incredibly well for that, so now I may have to insist on a

Re: Earthquaker Devices Cloven Hoof
that sounds good to me! Will there be a Cloven Hoof Reaper? I hope so. The Hoof Reaper will be my next pedal, so if there's a CHR in a few months, i would wait.

Tempted to sell my Hoof Reaper for one of these guys and use the leftovers to save up for a Tone Job. Can't decide if I use the reaper side enough to justify selling it. I do love my Hoof Reaper, though... Decisions, decisions...

Re: Earthquaker Devices Cloven Hoof
Thought you guys might be interested to hear that it looks like EQD is going to release this as a regular production pedal, or at least they are going to release a red and grey version at Summer NAMM. The coming soon page for this version is already on CME's website.
I think I'm going to hold off on the possible trade until I can demo one of these bad boys in person. Wondering if you can still get those germanium sounding tones that I love from the Hoof in addition to the new massive gain range and tighter bass.

I think that's cool. Still hope they're gonna do a Cloven Hoof Reaper with octave up (switchable to octave down). Maybe EQD should do to the big muff what they did to the tubescreamer with the Palisades. One Pedal that does all the big muff sounds...just an idea.
Anyway, there are 3 more EQD pedals on my list and they will be on my board in a few months, ha!

I know there are other changes to the circuit as well, but the switch to silicon trannys does have a pretty significant impact on the tone. I wouldn't expect the raunchy bite that you're used to from the Ge version, but a crispier crunch.

So I take it this thing will probably bring the doom even more then a regular 4 knob hoof?

Yeah, that was sort of what I figured. I'll have to a/b these guys when i can. I love the raunchy-ness of the Ge hoof, but extra gain would be extra tasty at the same time. I still like how the Cloven Hoof sounds nice and tight.
Also, hehe "silicon trannys" hehe...

Re: Earthquaker Devices Cloven Hoof
Been obsessed with the idea of this pedal since I first heard it. I have a Hoof Reaper (which I love to death), but the hoof doesn't have enough gain on tap at times (not all the time, but sometimes), so hearing about the Cloven Hoof I was just blown away. I've been considering to sell my Hoof Reaper to get a Cloven Hoof and a Terminal to take care of my fuzz instead, but I'm afraid I'd miss the Hoof Reaper and the octave switch haha.
