Thanks, Casavettes, good to know, those are both options as well.

Step one, before you tear what's left of your hair out: do any of the offenders run on batteries?
If so, does the noise persist on a battery (Not a long-term solution, just trying to make sure it's not them picking RF interference at the new place versus electrical).

I use a Furman PL PLUS DMC II. I think I got it for $175 about 5 years ago and it made an immediate difference in lowering the noise floor of all my gear, tubes last longer, things run cooler, everything audio-related sounds tighter with better bottom end definition. APC also makes some cost effective voltage regulators, just be sure to get a powerful enough unit, something that can safely handle 1800w or better to run numerous amps and effects at once if you ever want to do so.

Thanks, rf, some of the Muffs I have do and some don't take batteries. It's weird that they're all humming though. It's pretty much just the Muffs too. Not really other types of fuzzes. It's not RFI either. It's definitely some sort of ground problem.rfurtkamp wrote:Step one, before you tear what's left of your hair out: do any of the offenders run on batteries?

Thanks, rw, I think I'm gonna take it one step at a time. First I'll probably get a power conditioner and then a new power supply (or maybe the other way around). Between those two acquisitions, I'm hoping it'll solve my problem.rustywire wrote:... just be sure to get a powerful enough unit, something that can safely handle 1800w or better to run numerous amps and effects at once if you ever want to do so.

Re: So, somebody needs to have a talk about power conditione
I think it's the same unit I got, same timeframe. It helps, but replacing the old fuse box for a modern breaker box in the house probably did more. I still have high voltage out, like 125v most of the time, but it is a bit steadier, probably less hash, though rf and crap was never my problem, just the unsteady and too high voltage. More expensive units will actually clamp the voltage if too high and produce extra if too low.rustywire wrote:I use a Furman PL PLUS DMC II. Re: So, somebody needs to have a talk about power conditione
Thanks again. The wiring is newer construction. So, hopefully that's not much of the problem.
I ordered a PP2+. We'll see/hear how that goes. If not well, then I'll get a power conditioner.

Re: So, somebody needs to have a talk about power conditione
Hoping it works man!
If you are still getting some noise after the power supply switch, try running the PP2+ off a different plug from the amp (just to give it some separation) and don't run it in the same surge protector as other 9v transformer apapters (but it will be a choice between with ones to separate it from the amp or 9v adapters?). Neither are going to help much, but the combination of changes my help a bit just to get you where you want to go. Just slight variations and things that helped a tiny bit with my PP2+ in a noisey situation (but most of the time, it is a pedal that like radio and single coils). Really hope you got it with this though.

Thanks, lordgalvar, I'll have to determine which of the outlets are on which circuit. No telling until I plug something into to each and every outlet and then close one of the circuits.

Re: So, somebody needs to have a talk about power conditione
It seems silly but I only have two plugs in my bedroom and one is behind the bed. So I have two surge protectors...one for pedals and one for the Sunn Beta Lead off the same outlet/circuit. Just doing that helped a little which is what I should of said more clearly in the last message. haha. I don't know if it really helps, it just seemed like it did when I had transformers on the same line as the pp2 and my amp.
Differnt circuits all together is a way greater solution, but I know that ain't the easiest thing for you. The isolated pwer supply is the big one though and it will probably have the most significant drop in noise bersus anything else. This whole this is just trouble shooting.
Validating the PP2+ though haha. It really helped me more than anything.

^ Yeah, Muffs are noisy. The isolated power supply should do the trick, Chank. You won't realise how much noise the 1 Spot was adding until it's gone. It's the Joni Mitchell effect.

Re: So, somebody needs to have a talk about power conditione
Good choice! I've used Voodoo Lab poser supplies for years now. I initially went with the PP2+ because it was the one that gave me the best results on the noise front. Now I have a 4x4 as well and it's great too.Chankgeez wrote:Thanks again. The wiring is newer construction. So, hopefully that's not much of the problem.

^ Reminds me, we need a thread on best "I've just broken up with Joni Mitchell and my heart is broken" songs of the 1970s. Aside from her own work, she was a pretty phenomenal muse…

I have a Thiele cab that was supposed to have belonged to Joni's ex-husband/bassist/producer . . .HorseyBoy wrote:^ Reminds me, we need a thread on best "I've just broken up with Joni Mitchell and my heart is broken" songs of the 1970s. Aside from her own work, she was a pretty phenomenal muse…
