Just In time for the slide work I'm getting into :joy:

Yea but aren't capos generally for lazy guitarist anyways? ;) LOL

Quite posting more things I want to buy. It's not nice to make me want so many cool things.

I could totally get into these things.

 yeah I am totally glad I came across these, such a cool idea :joy:
I think I'm going to go ahead and order a set....though I'd like a little more detail about how they hold the string in place etc.

Demo I found:

I don't know how reusable they are. They sell a 12 pack and according to the post they made yesterday.

"Simply pick the right size Fretlock for the string, choose your fret, peel off the backing paper and stick it in place. Once you’ve pushed the string back in, you’re ready to go!" Source

Judging by the pictures, it uses friction to stabalize the string by applying pressure to both sides of the string and then I think on top.

I'm still totally gonna try them, but I'd hate if they weren't easily shift-able and long living because they rely on a sticky side.

Hmmmm. That's interesting. Seems they might only be good for one sticking....I'll try to get more info.

Yeah, when I read the "peel off the backing" I was wondering if it is adhesive and if that factors into the functioning of the thing, cause if so, they won't last long. Perhaps the backing is just to protect a foam pad or something that protects the fretboard.

For 25 in brits, its not a bad price if they are reusable indefinitely.

So I got an email response from fretlocks:

Fretlocks are stuck onto the instrument using adhesive. We've tested it many times, and it leaves no mark on the instrument when it's removed. You remove the fretlock by unhooking the string and then twisting it. It should come right off. They can stay on for as long as you like, but we recommend that you don't leave them on for weeks at a time. People have been getting two or three uses out of one fretlock, but we can't guarantee sound quality after the first use. We're working on a reusable one, so stay tuned!

So you have to buy new ones every couple weeks cause they don't recommend leaving them on for a couple weeks at a time?

Yeah, that's a bit unfortunate. Still going to try them out though, just won't make it a regular thing.

I just realized, if you have an aluminum neck guitar, you could accomplish the same thing via magnets. Shouldn't affect sustain too much if the magnet is placed a little behind the point of contact. Small market for that though.

Yeah right :(
I'm thinking they would be great for recording a track etc and/or for a performance. I REALLY wanna use them so I'll probably go ahead and order a set, even though they will have a short lifespan....and then just wait to see what they come up with next.
