Miyazaki-san has already hinted at the fact that the combat will be faster and more bloodborne inspired so that may be why. It's not their first rodeo, I'm sure there is a good reason.

As a casual souls fan. I liked how fast paced Bloodborne was, It forced you to have more of an aggressive playstyle rather than waiting for the enemy to finish it's moveset, attack and get away. That being said, I don't think these games need to be an annual release. The more familiar you are with the gameplay, the "easier" it gets - which defeats the point and the challenge. Making massive HP enemies with instant kill attacks covering 60% of the arena is more frustrating than difficult.
However, I can assume that the FromSoftware only really spends a moderate amount of money on the Souls games, so they always turn a pretty quick profit to a loyal and smaller audience. So I can see why we're at DS3 already.
As much as I love the Dark Souls series I can't help but feel like DS3 is just an attempt to cash in from the PS4/Xbox whatever they're on. That might just be me being bitter that I got a PS3 right before the PS4 came out and that I probably won't be playing these games until the PS5 inevitably comes out though

I never actually played Bloodborne because they won't put it out on PC (for whatever reason), so I can't actually comment on that. My only real hope for DS3 is that sorceries are actually viable again instead of being trash early game, ok mid game, the most worthless thing late game.
I mean, it will have been 2 years since the release of ds2. This isn't like an assassin's creed situation where every time you go to best buy there is a new game in the franchise.

Well, there's a very simple and easy to understand reason : Sony is the publisher, they paid for the game's development and the platform exclusivity was very probably a big part of the deal. The Souls series are still published by Bandai Namco so DS3 will be released on current gen consoles + PC.
