The extra resistor is for the LED. I'm sorry about the lack of socket! Do you have a Radio Shack nearby?

I love the smell of solder in the morning.

No Radio Shack's left in Canada, unfortunately. But I did get a socket from an electronics store, so it's all good! I'll try to post a demo of the Logan 5 soon.

Re: The Official Logan 5 Ring Mod build thread
Hey, did I do this right? I haven't soldered the wires in yet and I haven't hooked up the dpdt switch but I wanted to double check before I went further. Also, am I correct in assuming that I should put some tape on the back of the pcb to make sure it doesn't short out on the enclosure?

Almost! The board IN goes to the TIP of the input jack. You have it hooked to the RING lug. Your SLEEVE (ground) connections are correct, as is the TIP connection on the output jack.

You are correct about insulating the board from the enclosure. Double-sided foam tape works, as does a folded up hooker card from Las Vegas.

I built this and I get a clean signal, but when I engage the pedal, nothing. Then while the pedal is engaged if I pull the cable halfway out of the output jack a get a pitch that changes pitch with the frequency knob and bias trimmer. How can I fix this?

Check your tip/sleeve wiring on the output. Might have the something wired wrong there.

Yep. Sounds like the input jack is wired a bit wrong. Should be a simple fix.

New update, both jacks are fully plugged in, when I engage the pedal I get the same sound that I can change the pitch of, but I can play notes and they come out fuzzy about the same level as the sound.

Does that sound as cool in person as it does in concept?

Kind of. I wish I could get the sound in nbabmf's video.

Thats called carrier bleed. Good design and components can supress most of it but it will never be eliminated completely. Id have to check if its a real diode ring. If it is, you can use matched diodes. If its a pseudo ring mod then i reall dont know how to supress the carrier any more than it is. Part of the problem is that the oscillator is built in to the same ic. Its designed to be an easy build really thats why it is the way it is.
