it sounds wonderful, but i agree with bronzetalon in that you could easily score a EHX DMB and put effects in the loop and tailor it more toward your liking.

which is something i really want to do

You could get an EHX DMB and put effects in the loop so you can tailor it to your liking.

Or you could just get one of these sick ass pedals.

Or both.

This could accurately describe the majority of the DBA line. They should consider adopting that as a new motto...

Been testing this thing out for the past few days and it's cool, definitely capable of crazy noises along with the more standard and subtle delay settings. As usual with DBA though, it's simply not worth anywhere near $320 and there are a few notable issues regarding usability, particularly the fuzz portion.

The delay actually sounds really nice until you hit about 700ms, then it's gets noisy as shit, like insanely lofi in relation to say, 600ms. The modulation is cool, a weird pitch bending effect but the square wave setting has a loud, annoying tick associated with the speed, LFO noise I guess. The manual notes you'll hear a thumping with the fuzz active and high mod blend but this tick comes with the clean setting, making it much more pronounced. Repeats are really quiet unless you turn the mix all the way up, not much range on that control.

The biggest problem imo, besides price: NO FUZZ VOLUME CONTROL!!! Anyone who's tried any DBA pedal knows they're incredibly LOUD and same goes for the Echo Dream. When you flip the fuzz toggle to either active position, you go about 10x over unity, a frightening jump in volume that wouldn't be usable in most situations. This should be addressed, a major downfall.

Bottom line, doesn't have shit on a Deluxe Pitch Pirate (beyond the super cool DBA styling), seriously not even close and I wanted to love this sexy beast! If the fuzz was usable and you didn't already own a ridiculous amount of fuzz, I could see owning it. Otherwise, buy a Deluxe PP (which has far more sounds available) and stack it with fuzz you already have and you'll more than cover the Echo Dream's capabilities. May not look as cool though...;)

Right, I figured there must be a way to adjust it internally. Nothing. Just a shit ton of volume in fuzz modes, always, and no way to balance things out.
