If you're still looking for more shoegaze bands, I'm a big fan of The Brother Kite. Not so MBV-ish as much as stacking Beach Boys harmonies atop walls of overdriven guitars all drenched in waves of of reverb. I swear, they found a way to put reverb on their reverb on that last album ("Waiting for the Time to be Right").

Also, I like what I've heard from The Lionheart Brothers. Also, while I'm not sure if it's exactly shoegaze, "They Spent Their Wild Youthful Days in the Glittering World of the Salons" by the Swirlies will break your head apart and put it back together again four ways from Sunday.

Pia Fraus and Seely are awfully purty as well.

BTW, I have just been reminded of the genius that is Yo La Tengo's album "Painful."

The song "From a Motel 6" has got to be my favoritest American shoegaze song ever. Definitely in my top 10 songs ever.

Lovegaze - I like it. About 75% of the "official" music at my wedding was Yo La Tengo, so pairing them with that feeling is a natural for me. After our vows, my wife and I walked out to "Sugarcube" (it was awesome to see the guests jump at the opening clatter of drums & blare of feedback), and our first slow dance was to "Whole of the Law."

And as for bringing the proverbial rock, I've never seen anyone play feedback onstage like Ira - it looks like he's either having epileptic fits with his guitar or going into pure paroxyisms of joy.

Sugarcube on wedding!?
:omg: !!YOU ROCK!!:omg:
Painful is no doubt my favorite US shoegaze album, and YLT has made so much more great music in different aspects than just shoegaze.

I just saw them the second time two weeks ago, standing right in front of Ira's amp and pedalboard. It was amazing how he managed to pull out those beautiful noise with ease.

And I love Georgia.

I have to admit, I don't think I've ever felt 1/2 as cool as that moment when YLT came blaring out of those unitarian meetinghouse speakers and the party began.

>sniffle<

I'd love to see YLT again, but sadly, all the clubs that were the right size to book indie bands like them have closed down. Poo. I'll just have to make the commitment to drive out to Boston one of these tours... or start a club here :wow what a fantastic idea you have there: which has certainly crossed my mind once or twenty billion times.

Of course that would require money.

Anyhow...

I loves me a wedding DJ who gets away from Celine Dion & whatnots...

Back on the Shoegaze tip: The Sky Drops? Anyone? Bueller? http://www.theskydrops.com/music.htm

There's talk of a new album soon, which would make me happy...

They haven't recorded an album yet have they?

Can anyone recommend me some wall-of-fuzz bands?
