This one mostly consists of clips from a video I made over several years called Red Light, Blue Screen. I shot some video with a camcorder in college. It made me laugh to watch it because it was awkward and embarrassing. People felt like it was creepy to watch me laughing like a hyena while watching myself on video so I videotaped myself watching myself to see how far I could take things.
And then I videotaped myself watching myself watching myself.
And then I videotaped myself watching myself watching myself watching myself.
Since things were getting creepy, I tried to obscure my shame and embarrassment by covering the screen of the TV monitor with paper tape (which I videotaped).
So then I videotaped myself taping the video monitor.
And then I videotaped myself taping the video of me taping the video monitor.
So six months of lazy spare time has now been spent on this, and I hate myself for getting sucked into detailed inking and embellishing again, but I'm finally done enough with it to stop. So much for increased productivity. This isn't even for the album I need a cover for, but I will find a use for it at some point, and it has been a good warm-up, with some lessons about time saving and wasting. I have been using a 46" HDTV for a monitor/canvas, which is pretty amazing. Actual size: https://i.imgur.com/tEUnx3U.jpg
I made a hand-painted scratch animation on 35mm filmstrip called Theoria and it will be screening as part of the Regional Artists' Program of the 23rd Media City Film Festival in Windsor, Ontario.
Unfortunately I won't be playing live music this time, but I did create the soundtrack by improvising with an assortment of delay, glitch and looping pedals including: Montreal Assembly Count To Five CooperFX Outward Drolo Stamme[n] Dr. Scientist BitQuest! Boss RE-20 Basic Audio Fuzz Mutant Montreal Assembly Your & You're (fuzz)
