I'd like to get to a comfortable spot to write an album (meaning mentally). I have a few collabs lined up and am hoping those turn out well.

Cross posting this here from the Gear Goals 2019 because some are more relevant here, though the distinction between music and gear goals is marginal to me.

codetocontra wrote:Fully understand that I shouldn't make goals because I will fail to achieve them. Might as well bet on black and red at the same time.

2019 goals:
2) Hate myself
5) Release 2 albums, because 1 just seems like too much anyway might as well shoot for 2
6) Do more collaborations [maybe some single tracks, or a split release, or contribute to a compilation]
7) Break up one of my bands
8) Play a show
9) Break up the 2nd band
10) Set more things on fire

3 goals in progress...

Aw shucks, someone knows me pretty well. Actually haven't working on collabs in this calendar year yet, though I just did one with JonnyObtuse and SuperInvisibleMan at the end of December. I started some heavy work going through recordings for another CTC solo album. So if the self loathing lets up a bit I might actually finish it soonish, otherwise I will throw it all the fire.

thought the invisibly obtuse collaboration was in January for some reason.

That's when we, uh, released it to the masses. Listener beware.

Why only 4 songs?
Why only 2 collabs?
Why don't you buy more stuff?

Excellent query.

Three’s just not enough, I have decided.
It’s hard to find volunteers!
I have fewer but better things now.
Fuck princess castles. There’s so much bullshit in my basement it’s insane

Last year's goals completely went down the ol' poopero so some hopefully more attainable goals this year:
1) sell off some stuff I don't use
2) get a Minilogue XD because it looks juuust right
3) fill in some probably large gaps in my knowledge of theory
4) mayve record something but definitely spend more time playing.

Same here on 1) and 4). Those are my only music goals, but a year is a long time, so things might change as the year goes by.

Been working out some theory stuff and I put this together, it might be useful to some:

Record (and hopefully release) at least on album. Depends if we release everything in one piece or not.
Keep practicing/learning/get better at playing the piano.
Find a way to remember the music theory I keep learning again and again.
Find a band where I can play bass again. I really miss that.

Record some songs instead of my usual "5-second doot doots that sound cool but now I'm kinda bored and done I guess".
