Any recommendations on skateboarding shoes for big feet? I wear 14s or 15s depending on brand. I'm old so I'm thinking I want more cushion than the Chucks I normally wear.

Looks like you guys have some fun spots to skate

Thanks! That was filmed/edited/and finished in...5 days I think? My buddy Mike put in a lot of work.

We do have a lot of cool spots, though most of which didn't really make it into that edit. I think that only had 5-6. We also had to be a little choosy with where we went, cause that kicker ramp had to be used in all the clips. (Was for a contest)

I love Vans for skating, but the basic ones have no support, so I would only look at the ultracush/pro/etc models that are more updated, if you need more cushion than the chucks. Nike and Adidas make some good ones that aren't terribly bulky as well.

You put the kicker to good use! Great fun :thumb:

Excellent. This makes me want to pick up skating again even more than I already did (me and a friend were just about to, 9 years after we stopped, before all this pandemic hit)

That nose manual ender was A+. Yellow hydrants are fucking weird but that looks like a monster spot for dumb fun.

depressing lack of handplants sir, but the boneless-es made up for it

I wish there was a long lens shot of that manual! That pad is the remaining foundation from a Lacks furniture store that was torn down. We started skating there when the park got closed from Covid.

LOL at the hydrant...it denotes that the water is from a public supply system I think? Other colors show how much water flows per minute.
(Looked this up a while back when I noticed various ones)

Our resident hand-planter is still trying to get them back (Mike, the filmer/editor of that video)

I started back up again in August, got hurt (off the board) in February, and am just now stumbling back around again. I had just started to feel confident when I got injured too. Sucks, but now I'm living my life on an old fart big boi board (101/New Deal/Heritage reissues are my JAM now) doing all the weird old school tricks I thought were cool back in the early 2000s when everyone made fun of me for doing boneless and no complies. Jokes on them, that shit is en vogue now.

It has really pulled me out of a deep depressive rut I've been in for the past few years. I'm hoping to build a nice mini ramp when I move into a new house this fall.

As far as shoes go, I'm rocking some ES Silos. Basically an updated version of the big puff daddies we used to skate back in the day, and they're super comfortable. Stylish? You can be the judge of that.

My 8 year old nephew got a walmart board for his birthday and is really into skating so naturally I bought a Globe with tensors (basically the cheapest 7 ply street board they had above 8 inch wide) at 38 years old after not having skated since like 2002 to ride around with him.

I can still pop an ollie over a case of beer. I couldn't fucking believe it. I can also, less surprisingly, still eat some shit and keep going. Skinned an elbow pretty good at the skatepark. Anyways I'm gonna buy him a real board. That walmart shit with plastic bushings doesn't turn it's basically unsafe.

I think I'm getting back into skating. I can feel it.

I was also pretty amazed at all the different shapes they got for skateboards now. I was pretty intrigued by flat tail designs at the shop I went to.

flat tails?! Weird! But why not I guess. My friend used to have a nice board which he'd fucked up the tail on so it was way too short and basically flat. Buuut actually when you got used to it it was a lot of fun to skate

He may be talking about stuff like Welcome and a few other people have been putting out, with the square tails and whatnot. That mix of modern and oldschool.

Yep.

The mix of modern/old-school/longboard/carvers, etc. There is some wild looking stuff now. Pretty cool.
