Politicians have shown us nothing if not how to be shape-shifting chameleons. :idk: That's politics for you.

These are people who a month ago were running around calling themselves "socialists" and looking down on anyone that wasn't on the Bernie train.

Fuck that. Turns out they weren't progressives.

Entirely economically speaking: I'd rather have a Republican...or maybe Trump over any Libertarian. But I guess Hilary is reluctantly better than both of them, at least in what she pretends to say and could get passed through a (hopefully) Democratic Senate.

But Johnson (besides being a turd) is against everything Bernie supports. Responsible government does not abdicate it's duties.

These are people who a month ago were running around calling themselves "socialists" and looking down on anyone that wasn't on the Bernie train.

I think alot of them (including myself) never considered themselves socialist in so much as they appreciated someone articulating at least a portion of their thoughts without being a fringe canidate.

Bernie Sanders had alot of people on his side because he was able to present himself as an honest politician who was an outsider but still managed to bring enough people together to get something done. I would've gladly voted for Sanders, and certainly not because of his "socialist" leanings... Hell, most of the actual socialist platform choices he supported were batshit crazy and didn't stand a chance.

But, at the same time, he was different and would've put our country on a different track than it's headed, now. That's what we needed. Now that Bernie's out, I'm stuck with the two worst canidates the "leading" parties could provide. They're both awful, and I refuse to support either one. That leaves me with hoping for a viable independent or throwing in with one of the also-ran "third" parties.

I've decided that I'd rather Johnson/Weld than Stein/Hippie, but I'm not married to them. If it turns out that one of those two ticekts has actually support in my state, I'll gladly throw in with them even if they're basically opposed to things I believe in simply because we need to plot a new course for America, although if neither has any real ground, Johnson/Weld probably fits my realistic agenda more than the dirty hippy party does.

It won't matter. We'll end up with Clinton or Trump. Literally, in a year where if either party had presented a moderate, reasonable choice they could've had a blowout down ticket from people who just pull levers but instead they literally both went for the worst possible option. It's both funny and darkly depressing in one go.

Secretly, I hope that either one of them drops out at their respective convention and allows someone who's not an idiot to step in. I'd also accept Bernie going with the green party. Jesus, anybody but Trump/Clinton.

Let's see what happens at the RNC. But I'm looking forward to the debates. It would be fun if Johnson gets enough votes to be in on them as well.

I'm sure this is an entirely sound line of reasoning.

I think Sanders just almost made Clinton cry at the very end of his endorsement speech.

Just spent the last hour arguing with my dad about why the US/world won't suddenly collapse if Hillary were to get elected.
His argument was that she'd rapidly decrease military spending which would cause China to try to annex/"go adventuring in" the south china sea and ultimately cause a world war.
