Re: Hiking

absolutely wonderful shots, y'all! i was up in NH/VT in late October, but the higher elevations were already snowed in to the extent you couldn't get up Mt. Washington at all. it's OK...i wasn't in good enough shape for that much elevation gain anyway.

I'll be in Rangeley (Maine) with some friends after xmass. We will hike Saddleback and the Horn.

makes me think about going to a gym to get in shape. and i hate the idea of going to a gym...i'm still traumatized from high school in the 1970s.

it might be the only way for me to get in good enough shape to do the high-elevation stuff in the western mountains i've dreamed of all my life.

Then you should do it! :thumb:

Still have to see the snow this year, hope to make at least a couple of hikes during Christmas holidays.

snowshoeing

It's the best place near quebec for snowshoeing. There's already a lot of snow there.

I saw some traces in the last shot so i thought ou were cross-country skiing :thumb:
love snowshoeing, even if don't have the chance to do it often.

if that's your goal, then do it, and then stop once you start hiking regularly ;)

Sick places as always Syl. What kind of vegetation is there? Super low bushes or what?
I know I said it before but the landscapes here are sooo different, love your shots.
Went hiking a bit with my girlfriend and my daughter on my back yesterday but was not so pic-worthy (but having 15kg on my back was really tiring nonetheless)

Yes… the more you get to the top, the more the vegetation is small.

I'm not sure if this should be here, but I'm here so I'm put it here..
Got some new hiking boots yesterday [ZAMBERLAN 996 VIOZ GTX] and am stoked as it's been a long time since I had a good pair of hiking boots so I can really get out there. On the other hand buying them was a pain.. I ended up at cabala's and well fuck that store.. dead polar bears aside they had all wrong barcodes on them and took forever to check out.. I'm pretty sure it would have been quicker to buy a gun and hold up the store for the fucking shoes...

It should not. I have a million stupid threads I would reel in with you about that. Just not here.
As your friend, I can tell you really need to go for a hike  (I do too tbh  ). Not telling you what to do but if I can implore you (and everyone) to keep it positive here. This is not the place (go to my Wankoff thread... I can feel with you there!). This thread is for the beauty and the simple joys of hiking. Hiking is the place where you see the world for all its potential and where you are suspended from the day-to-day of retail / aggravation / incompetence. Whatever.
NSFW: show
I don't think you're wrong about any of the above for the record

Sy, WOW! I need to go. It's not terribly far from me. I love Canada too! Sadly (but I'm also grateful for the opportunities), I've never been more busy in my life so I won't feasibly get to hike until uh... at least three weeks from now (minimum, could be more). Please keep posting great pictures!
