The intitute for human continuity? A crock of shit?

Postby opivy3056 » Mon Feb 02, 2009 2:06 pm

http://www.theIHC.com

So much bullshit. Makes me want to spend the whole day of 12/12/12 on the summit of a tall mountain. Apocalyptic things annoy me.

To make matters more aggrivating, they have a survival "lottery." When I read things like that, I honestly wish I lived in a vacuum.

Discuss?

"Our mission is to ensure the survival of the human race past 2012."

I think it should say "We and all of our friends are going to live and you're not." :haha:

Yeah I find stuff like this funny, more idiots to piss off.

Oh, I was refering to the about page on the page opivy posted. I could have sworn some guy was jay leno who was the famous astrologer that was 'blamed' for making pluto not a planet. He said this thing coming into our orbit wasn't a big deal. If it hit earth it would be way way way past our lifetimes.

yeah this entire site is for the movie, and if 'day after tomorrow' (which i did enjoy) was any indication there will be very little fact here.

It annoys me because apparently they have EVERYTHING. "IHC Astronomers"...."IHC Scientists"....etc.

And they assume that everything is going to happen. stuff like "We dont know exactly what events will unfold on Dec. 12, but we are they they're going to be catastrophic to the human race"

Screw the mayans, Screw nostradamus, and screw all those gypsy ass ladies who lived in caves and breathed hallucinogens until they were able to cough up "divine prophecies."

I hate viral propaganda... it's kinda cyberpunk, 1984-esque stuff.. Everything is ok if you can sell your shit.

the link i posted originally:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_(film) -> more specifically http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_(film)#Marketing

The studio also launched a viral website published by the fictional organization Institute for Human Continuity where visitors could register for a lottery number to be part of a small population that would be rescued from global destruction.

yeah - this specific website being fake doesn't mean their aren't loads of people that buy into similar BS. but i think this site's actually kind of fun, taken in context. and the flash isn't bad either.

LOL.
Did any “scientist” ever consider that the Mayan calender is circular and the maker may just have run out of space?
According to my last Julian calender every thing ended Dec 31, same with my new one.

Then there is the possibility that the Mayan calculations for the end of the world were off a few hundred years, because we know when their world ceased to exist.

But I'm full of questions, like if there were no people around, how could a continent 2 million years ago have been called any thing.

I enjoyed the guy on Leno, can't remember his name. It was nice to listen to a scientist that talked like a normal person and has a sense of humor.

Seems like most of them just want to show you how much smarter they are than every body else, which does appeals to college students.

Watched a program on the History channel that argued against the 'an asteroid killed the dinosaurs' theory. And I believe, baring parallel universes, that the asteroid that fell in Siberia, and the eruption of Krakatoa didn't end life on earth.

I'll post my theories on Dec 13 2012.
