The format will be an issue. Can't take that on mass transit.

Thanks for showing it though, I like the concept

Gotcha! So, you definitely need something with smaller wheels. If I can think of anything else, I'll throw it up in the thread here. :thumb:

I've started looking at kick scooters. Down the rabbit hole I go.

What's cool with bike shorts/bibs? My friends who cycle pretty seriously say just get bibs. My not wanting to spend a lot of money thinks just get shorts. I'm wanting to add cycling into my workout routine. I'm having a hard time running more than 45 minutes without my knees hurting. My bike seems like a good way to mix it up a bit.

keeps the pad where its supposed to be (and other stuff)
no band around the waste that becomes irritating
shorts can migrate down

So it's well worth it? Especially if I'm using it for my long workout days...

I guess its personal preference but I think they wind up being more comfortable.

If I needed a bike that breaks down, that's the route I'd go. Obviously, you're probably not gonna ship your frame over here for that, but maybe there's a European builder who does something similar. In fact, I just looked and found this list: http://www.sandsmachine.com/fbplist.htm#Foreign

Waterford and a bunch of other builders do coupler bikes although they are usually pretty expensive vs a folding bike...

Also just a heads up bilenky does really cool stuff but girlfriend had a terrible experience with them and a custom bike build... long story short they seem to have cash flow problems and aren't super ethical....(pm for details)

Ouch, that's not good to hear about Bilenky. I've never dealt with them, but it's good to know. Their stuff does look nice though.

I'd rather have a "normal" bike with couplers than a folding bike.

If I do eventually end up looking for one (probably not), I'll now know to look to a builder other than Bilenky.

It was super shitty as she had personally gotten to know them over the course of a few years while living in philly / having them do some work for her.

She's the type of person that drops in with breakfast or donuts/coffee for bike people just to say hey or get minor things fixed so was just super disappointing.

That is super shitty. Hopefully she now has some extra good bike karma goin' for her. :!!!:

I just looked up what that bilenky retrofit cost...some guy said he paid them $2000 to do that to his frame
what the fuckkkkkkkk

thats like the cost of complete custom steel frame

just buy a new bike at the place you travel to

or just buy something like a rictchy breakaway

I ended up with a Razor A5 air kick scooter. It's been a hell lot of fun :thumb:
