Looks dope!

Also just want to say that if there's something I hate about a lot of cyclists... it's their squeaky transmissions. And it is even more ridiculous when you ride a carbon frame, clip ons, and expensive tights. WILL YOU JUST LUBE IT PLEASE? THE NOISE IS KILLING ME!

Have a few bike mechanic friends and watching their Facebook feed is funny / facepalmy quite frequently. Apparently super expensive carbon race bikes being setup as flat bar commuters and other sad shit is quite common. Just saw a aerospoke rim on a loaded touring bike with panniers.

Also yes purple and black tape

1) that bike is proper

2) those bars are beautiful

3) downtube shifters rule, but I'm a bar-end guy ;)

I need to get some photos of my bikes up. I work at a bike shop so I have a nice little collection. For those of you with nice imaginations: Bianchi Super Pista with Dura Ace track shit. Surly Karate Monkey setup SS with XTR cranks and XT brakes. Raleigh Grand Prix (recent version) with 650b wheels and a Brooks. My GF has taken a shine to my Raleigh so I might need to invest in a new road bike.

Edit: also Chank I have a buddy selling tons of bmx cruisers if you want something classy for relatively cheap. Shipping is a dick jam with bikes though.

Nice purple bar tape.

Thanks, ThurberMingus, that's a kind offer. I've failed to mention that I ended up picking up a cheap BMX bike over the winter. I've also been meaning to take a picture of it so I can post it in this thread. Have not done so. So, I'll just post a photo I've found in an image search. I snagged one o' these:

took a few weeks to get used to riding on 20" wheels. I haven't touched my city bike since. The BMX is so much more convenient.

Awesome! I refuse to ride anything but a BMX no matter how far I'm going. Its the only thing I feel comfortable and safe on.

Nice. :!!!:

I keep wanting to get a purple seat post for mine. I can't even sit on it now. It's too low. I probably wouldn't sit anyway. So, it'd just be a waste.

I'll probably give this bike to my nephew when he's tall enough for it. Get something a little bit larger for myself. :D :snax:

They're making some real sick 24" BMX's now that a lot of kids are riding with their dads who used to BMX. And it wouldn't be a waste, if it makes you even more stoked to be on your bike then that's reason enough.

:idk: Right now I like these 20" wheels for convenience. 24" wheels would definitely be a nicer ride though.

Maybe I will get a purple seat post. :snax: Then I'd also have to get a new seat though. The one I've got now is a one-piece jawn.

that All-City bike is sweet as...love the colour of the frame and the purple tape is a touch!

So, I have a confession...I went all lycra! I got into long rides, wearing lycra top to toe...my wife was horrified. Then after a 120km ride at the beginning of January i broke my hubs and my wheels were fucked. I had to sell my Dodici fixie to fund getting wheels built up. But as a result I was of action for about 3 weeks...and 3 weeks of thinking and reflecting. At some point during that time it hit me how i had changed and how the lycra thing and all the cycling clubs etc was just not my thing. By the time i got my new wheels I got back to being me, and ditched the lycra tops...still wear bibs because they are fucking comfortable, but i wear my metal t-shirts on a daily basis and enjoying just extending my commute to work by another 10km.

I really would like to get back to a fixed bike, but its just not practical and my knees just can't take the punishment in my 40's...

anyway, new pic of the bike with bombproof wheels

Image

and yes...i shaved my legs...
