Haven't been drinking lately, but last time I did it was a trader joe's assembled six pack. Had a good red ale in it, a breed of beer I've never tried before. Red ale suggestions, anyone?

My friend bought me an Avery 17th Anniversary Dry-Hopped Black Lager. Geez. I have no idea what this will taste like. It says on the bottle that it takes you through a tour of German hops. Welp.

Gonna drink it later whilst recording drums at our first tracking session! Sounds awesome so far, one song done, and two more to go for the day.

Wish us luck.

p.s. It's the follow up to our album Clouded Staircase: http://www.bar-none.com/album_detail.php?recordID=032862019227

Big beer drinker here. Too many favorites to list, let's stick to what's been going down the pipes this month (links on the local brews for those missing out):

Marshall — Atlas IPA
Choc — Basement Batch IPA
Tallgrass — IPA
Bridgeport — Hop Czar IIPA
New Belgium — Skinny Dip
Acme — IPA
Full Sail — Pale Ale
Left Hand — Jackman's American Pale
Anchor Steam — Liberty Ale
Avery — Karma
Saint Arnold — Elissa IPA
———————————

...they talk of my drinking, but never my thirst.

YES!!!!!!!

:omg:

My wife and I plan a trip to Philly every year *just* to eat and drink at Monk's Cafe. And any time we're within about 50 miles of it, we try our best to sneak in for dinner or maybe just some afternoon drinks. :)

well, next time you come down, give me a shout and we can grab one together. monk's also has a nice sister bar/restaurant a few blocks away which brews some of their own beers...

Slightly chilled homebrew stout with vanilla icecream and dark chocolate powder meant for coffee = win.

I had a pretty beer geeky day yesterday. I went to the "good" liquor store in town specifically looking for 21st Amendment Black IPA and I found it, and the guy had to check to be sure it was in the computer because it had just come off the truck about an hour ago.

I drank it out of a glass, but if I hadn't I probably wouldn't have noticed it being that much darker. It was still good though.

I was in NYC last night to catch American Idiot on Broadway, and on the way out I noticed a killer little high-end beer/cheese/cured meats shop. They have all singles and encourage people to make their own six-packs (with a 10% discount if you get 6).

So I got to try two beers I've been wanting to taste for ages:

Gouden Carolis (tripel)
De Koningshoeven / La Trappe Dubel

Both are oustanding! The Carolis is a very classic tripel that is a little dry and definitely has a noble hop presence (so many tripels and golden strongs overpower the hops with too much malt). The Dubel was excellent as well, and it smelled just as chewy and carmelized as it tasted. An excellent example of the style.
