Even though this was released in January 2011, this still rings true. It's like Portland is incapable of hatching out of a kind of cultural formaldehyde.
I’m not sure that is a bad thing… I find the use of the bad canned (what is the bullshit style called? Neo-hippy-chillscape ?) music vs music MADE WITH THIER FUCKING PEDALZ lame and disheartening.
As for Portland.. basically if you live in the PNW it isn’t as odd because you are or should be aware that a lot of the artist and oddballs and lower class in the seattle area were pushed out due to redlining to gentrify it into a hipsteryuppy neoliberal dreamland, most or what people think about seattle and the 90s is gone, buried under generic 50s modern architectural themed apartment buildings. The only stuff left are tourist attractions.. and so they/we fled to Tacoma, Olympia and particularly Portland, so it’s just filled with all the misfits that had nowhere else go and didn’t want to fit in with the plastic bullshit culture that everyone seems to love to hold on to a slightly less lameass bullshit culture

Small gang of 50 year old sk8tr boys felt played out with Coffee & Riffs ('member them?!), moreso with the Deadbeat pedals, whatever JHYves was doing at some point, et al of yore. I can't believe companies are still latching onto whatever that demographic is, but I suppose it's better than whatever the reality is (always a 50 year old sk8tr somewhere, sometime, but let's not try to repopulate the world with more of 'em, hay hey?). The numbers probably don't lie, but neither does the lamb on broadway, as Genesis 4told.
Tony Hawk was on the SNL end credits last night.....but so was Sharon Stone.

Wow, their workstations look just like arcade consoles.
It's interesting that they chose the blandest musak to set the video to though.
