Spitfire LABS - free interesting instruments for your DAW

Postby moid » Sat Apr 17, 2021 6:29 pm

Hello everyone

This week I was involved in a meeting with the music department at work and my department, and as part of that meeting one of the musicians mentioned an excellent new free VST instrument / software called LABS, so I duly had a look and got it functioning inside Reaper and it has some amazing free instruments (all samples, not MIDI or synth) to download... I'm currently playing with the Tape Orchestra sounds, which are various woodwind and brass instruments recorded onto pre distressed cassette tape and then turned into a VST... I suspect I will be downloading the Amplified Cellos and Trumpet Fields and Frozen Strings files soon too!

You can hear the samples in the above link... lots of fun if want something that was made from real instruments!

Love this. Use several of them on my new album. Spitfire also have very good orchestral programming tutorials. Christian, one of the founders, also have a bunch of cool videos on YouTube. He came up from dnb, and also has a few dnb videos that are well worth watching if you, like me, are doing (sort of) orchestral dnb.
