Oof. That paint is basically glitter and rubber cement. Does not come out evenly at all

Need a new paint. I want something with some depth, not a solid color.

Oh nice! I love these guitars.
I had good results with spraying the green glitter Rust-Oleum over a green base coat, but I had to return 2 cans that were totally clogged up or had no propellant :idk:
Looked like ass until the clear coat went on though.

Not the best pic, but this is all I have right now. I was really surprised by how well it turned out. I left the can in some hot water for a few minutes before spraying, and just dusted it on. It runs easily if you spray very much on there.
It took 2 cans of clear coat and I still sanded into a few pieces of glitter. But overall it's pretty rad.

that looks sick!

the thing with clear is you have to do light coats because it's very watery. If it's too thick it will just drip off to the lowest point

Thanks!
Yeah. It took a lot of fucking up over a long period of time to realize that you really aren't supposed to spray much on at any one time

Update on my project:

The neck was cracked upon arrival. So i glued that back together, polished the frets, fixed the wiring and put some new strings on it.

I have a few smaller projects to finish up around the jack shack and then I’ll get to it!

At one time, I had sixteen of the similarly-shaped basses :)

I do have pictures to prove it, but don't want to spoil this thread.
