Need help deciding on a grain filler

Hey folks, over the past year I've been lazily refinishing a mahogany Yamaha SG body I picked up off of Reverb. I opted to use a French polishing method I learned from an online video by the luthier Brian Howard. This method involves NOT dewaxing the shellac prior to application because I didn't want to have to mess around with using oils to lubricate my mouser only to have to remove the oil in later steps (see "lazily refinishing" ). The grain filler that Brian uses is like, $80 dollars and I was looking for a cheaper option in terms of grain fillers that would be compatible with non-dewaxed shellac. I'd prefer a grain filler that's darker in color to help accentuate the grain a bit and would rather not have to mess around with dyes or altering the filler in some way before the application. Thanks in advance for any advice y'all are able to provide!
