Put a piezo in my guitar

I've been meaning to do this for a very long time but I finally got round to putting a piezo on the bridge of my jag today.

It really nails the crappy sound I was after (genuinely)

Attached a sound demo clean and with some fuzz. It's pretty fun I think and was very easy to do.

You can just about see it taped underneath the bridge. Yes I'm going to clean up the masking tape at some point :p

That sounds awesome! I've got a Tele project in my parts pile awaiting a similar treatment....

Yeah! They were like £1 each on eBay for 5. Soldering of the wires was not good and I broke them both while installing this  but it's got a good output.

they're usually really flimsy indeed and hard to solder too :) have you tried mounting it onto the wood to see what it sounds like ?

Yeah I tried that too but it didn't work as well, it barely picked up any guitar playing sounds. Would probably work better on different types of guitars where the strings are less isolated from the body.

Putting one under the trem to pickup all the resonance as well must be heavenly.

Might actually do what you did to one of the guits. Rewire one of those useless ton pots to a piezo volume. That would be sick.

Yeah it picks up the sound from either side of the bridge with equal volume which is glorious. The behind the bridge strings are always great but this amplifies them so it's like a strange reverb with odd overtones. Good stuff.

Sounds great!
It's so difficult to avoid crunching those little round ones when you're working with them...

I've got a piezo jammed under the trem on both my Bass VI and Puresalem Reverberation. ;)
Maybe I need to try to tape it to the bridge instead. ;)

I meant to try it under the trem as well but didn't get round to it and found I like what I've done already.
