jaguar wiring and shielding

I see that pretty much all of the wiring diagrams show a ground connection to "brass" shield. I assume copper tape is good enough? Do you guys tape the whole pickup cavity or just the guard or do you skip shielding entirely?

When I shielded my Jaguar I did the whole cavities. The pickguards are usually conductive on the bottom side so you just need to make sure that a bit of the shielding tape ends up touching the pickguard.

If you don't use the strangle switch, it's also pretty easy to rewire the thing so that the strangle switch becomes a phase switch. You can also wire the pickup on/off switches so that when both are down they're actually both on but in series instead of parallel.

I did both, here's what I used as a reference (worked fine for me) :

Shielding these things is really not that complicated and removes a LOT of noise, btw. I also did it for my Mustang Bass and both are now super silent...
