Harley Benton Prince-style Telecaster clone CHEAP

Postby dubkitty » Mon Mar 04, 2019 1:21 pm

Harley Benton is Thomann's house brand out of Germany. they're selling what looks to be a pretty precise copy of the Hohner Tele that was Prince's #1 guitar for his entire career. The original is the best-sounding Tele i've ever heard, and Thomann has the replica for only £152 = $200 USD. imma be all over this like the Red Army on the Führerbunker in the fall when i've paid for my September road trip.

I had never heard of Harley Bentons and now I'm kind of boggling at their offerings... are they really that good, or just good crappy guitars?

I've never played any of the guitars. Got one of their power supplies and it's good though. :idk: From hearing other people's opinions most of their stuff is meant to be decent and solid if not inspiring. But guitars are trickier.

the folks i've seen commenting on the line generally say that they're quite good for the price. then, these are people on the Gretsch Pages, so you might want a second opinion.

There's an unboxing of some HB guitars here; the Prince one is right around 19:00.

some new strings, pickup height adjustment, a bit of tweaking the action, and Bob's your uncle. on the list ahead of the Squier Jazzmaster now.

A new guitar is about the least pedge thing I can imagine right now, but I'm thinking that the 10% of me that thinks "I should get a Strat" might have to keep these guys in mind...
