there's a neat Em9 tuning that David Crosby uses on several tunes: EBDGAD.

6 string: EADGBE, EbAbDbGbBbEb, CGCFAD, CGCGCE, DADF#AD, or CGDGBE

7 string: Currently AEADGBE and would like to try FCGCFAD, FCGCGCE, or an open A variant

8 string: EBEADGBE and curious about open tunings

Maybe boring but I'm always playing standard tuning... started to play D standard recently and will try C standard next time I play.. starting to think that E standard is just too high, I never play higher than maybe 15th fret so why not get those lower notes.

For the past few years I've been playing in D standard @ 432 hz, with 12 gauge strings. When I got my new Jaguar, I kept 9's on it and left it tuned to standard. A few nights ago I tuned down a whole step to D again and wow, I've got my tone back. The lower frequencies are a lot more pleasing to me, physically -- more guttural, less cerebral.

I keep my baritone tuned A-A, my Bass VI in Aen standard (DADAAE), and my bass in standard tuning.

I've been noodling with my lap steel in C6 tuning, which is surprisingly versatile, but I'm still pretty terrible at lap steel

And I've got two project guitars that are kind of on the backburner, but when I finally finish putting them together, I plan on tuning one to New Standard Tuning. The other I will probably just put in standard or maybe D standard :idk:

I have my lapsteel tuned to C6 and I like it, you've got all the basic chords and useful intervals for double stops easy to access. Still figuring out my way around it though.

5ths tuning all the way! I also like BADGbe but have sorta grown tired of writing for it. Pure tempered tuning is cool if you play the "wrong" key

I've changed from Dmaj to Dmin because I'm sad
& also it's way easier to play maj chords in min tuning than the other way around

The tuning I use in the metal band is now CGCFGD all the time. It is the best (the best, the best, the best)

This seems like a fun open tuning. Will have to try at some point.

Standard... New standard
Never get to play in it much tho cause I dont play with geeky people so usually alot of drop, which i hate now. Not tuning is another favourite of mine

I'm really keen to properly try out NST. Tried it once years ago but never really got into it. Floor used a similar tuning iirc so I suppose it can't be that geeky.

I got to thinking this past year, if you can get away with tuning any string -4 to +1,* then you have six options six strigns.., so 6^6 =46656 tunings... and then I am not 100% sure of the math behind it but if you wanted to remove redundant tunings(ex: Eb standard = E standard) you would still have 20391 tunings. You could easily last a whole career of writing every one of your songs in a different tuning.

*(YMMV obviously, I found tension is more consistent on acoustic so I used the exact same gauge on electric with wound g, only had to raise the action a few hairs)

C#G#C#F#G#D

This way I can strum some random crap and it sounds cool even though no thought beyond "this sounds cool" goes into the structure or note choice.
