I have one too, and you're right .. it's always entertaining. I learned some rolls and shit, but mostly I still just fuck around with it.
I almost picked up a 6 sting banjos/banjitar whatever you want to call it a couple months ago, but the bridge looked like it was about to pop through the head. One of those Washburn dealies. Sounded cool at least.
Yeah, it's helped my finger picking a ton just screwing around on it, I need to take lessons though cuz I don't really know the basics just some rolls and chord shapes.
I really want one of these too, I think there are some affordable ones out there besides the vintage Dano/Coral but they are still kind of a lot for a mess around instrument.
This Uzbeki can thrash out with the 2-string dutar! No kidding, she basically plays thrash riffs on this very complex sounding instrument. Must be heard to be believed. Her strum patterns are second to none!
took apart a wrecked fender today...think I can salvage the pickup, want to carve my own shape for a body..or maybe just get lucky and find something to work with...the guitars I play belong in this thread, DaShticks...but since this dude isnt just buying hurley sport sticks and converting them into diddley bows for 200.00 but carving from scratch & hes got his own web site now lol http://www.dashtickguitars.com/ their something totally different than when he first started their like 500+ works of art ...so point being the hurley ash wood stick makes for a great diy instrument...can even pop a switch on there for multiple pickups, keeps its shape, and still stays in tune with a nice bend for wah wah...anyways, synths are great and shit but something about holding or touching wood and strings man....i just cant dig those big generic shaped bodys of every guitar...at least the hurley stick was actually used as a weapon and then turned sport.
